Anyone have experience with a "cat gate"? We want to try one b/c our tabby is EXTREMELY HIGH ENERGY and he's been driving us crazy at night. We have a large living room with a window that he likes to perch on. Unfortunately the living room doesn't have a door that can shut, but my idea is to have that area be his night-time hangout.

Can anyone recommend a cat gate? I googled it and came up with tons of hits, but was hoping to get some suggestions here. Thanks!

It's called a 'door'! My cat (years ago) jumped to the top of a regular bedroom door once (or more). If your cat is high energy, I wouldn't imagine a baby gate type of thing would be good enough, plus I'd be afraid of anything that had any openings or potential places for catching paws in it if moved at all.

Yeah, when I said the living room doesn't have a door that can shut, I should've said it doesn't have a door at all. Unfortunately, we rent our home right now so we can't install a door either. I agree with you about the "gates" I've seen, but if anyone knows of a gate that is tall enough and "unclimbable" please let me know!

There are baby gates and dog gates but no cat gates. Anything that is not solid and very tall will be jumped over by any decent cat

I had a friend whose grandma had both birds and cats--but didn't want to close a door on the bird room so she used two baby gates in the doorway--one on the bottom and one above it.
