I understand. I'm only now doing raw for the puppy - my cats refuse to eat it anyway. And I worked up to this cost-wise throughout the years, certainly couldn't have done it in school.

There are other dry foods that have other main protein sources and the only chicken is "chicken fat". When I had a girl with IBD who also seemed particularly sensitive to chicken (and I had a strict budget), I learned that if chicken fat was the only chicken ingredient or if the chicken ingredients were not in the top five ingredients then she would generally not react strongly to these. If that is true for your cat, then you can also try California Natural Herring and Sweet Potato, Nature's Variety Prairie Lamb & Oatmeal, Nature's Variety Prairie Salmon & Brown Rice (though this contains chicken liver, which is very rich), or the Wellness Salmon and Turkey Formula. Good luck - I know food trials can be frustrating!

not sure if allergies/intolerances work the same way in cats as people, but if they do - the eggs might not be a problem. i'm allergic to chicken, but not eggs, duck, or turkey.
allergies aren't logical!

I bought them the Nature's Variety Lamb and Oatmeal to try. The diarrhea has stopped, but it's still soft. It's new though, so I'm hoping that will clear up over the week. I know I should technically have switched them slowly, but 2 straight days of constant diarrhea and vomiting I said forget it, and just took the other food away completely. But still, if anyone finds more foods I'd love to hear about them!

I just spoke with my vet and he told me something very interesting. He said that the pet food companies can change their formula without changing their packaging. For example, if you're feeding a rabbit based food and the cost of rabbit is very high that month, they can put chicken in the food without having to change the label and that is legal for them to do so.

On another note, he said try the NV Lamb for 8-12 weeks, and that he's not positive, but he believes that the protein in eggs is different so that will probably not cause an issue.

I know what you're going through because my Devon had the same problem last year, vomiting. After alot of vet visits and test, they think it was allergies. My girl will only eat dry ,so I had tried so many foods and still vomit piles 2- 3 x per day. Then on another forum someone suggested Purina one sensitive systems, and I thought I didn't want to try it because it wasn't premium food. By the end of summer, I became desperate and tried the Purina one and she stopped vomiting. Purina one dosen't have chicken. I think it was the only dry food that I found that dosen't contain any chicken , but it does have egg. Good luck

Taste of the Wild is grain free and one of the highest in protein. I was giving my cats Chicken Soup for the Cat but thought one of my cats might have a food allergy.

Taste of the Wild is what he was on for 2 months following Evo making them sick. It's a chicken based food though and wasn't working out for him.

It's only been 3 days since they started eating that, but it seems better. The diarrhea and vomiting has stopped, and his stool is more formed than it was on the Taste of the Wild or the Evo. I'm crossing my fingers with the NV that he's got perfect little poos by the end of the week!

Let me know how they do on NV lamb. I want to switch my gang to a better dry food. I'm thinking about switching after I finish the three 7 lb bags of Purina One sensitive systems I just bought. I always stock up whenever I see a sale. NV looks like good ingredents and I know a pet store that sells it.
