Mice help

I have had 3 female mice and 1 male together for some time now!
in theory they should be pregnant (13 days with male in with them),
but we have done this before and no babies arrived....
sooo do i leave the male in there till the 20th day (gestation is 21)
or do i take him out now?

Were the mice ever pregnant? Could they have given birth and then the male or female eaten them right away.

Are you SURE you have a male in there with them? Seriously mice breed like crazy - you have some strange mice if they are not pregnant

well theres the thing we had one im deffinate was pregnant, but we seperated her and she ate them, but the others arent seeming too get pregnant!
whiskers is deffo a little boy if ya know what i mean

That is really weird. Maybe you need to contact the World Records people - something is going on with them!

i have found sometimes, male mice get comfortable with their company and they dont breed, i found getting a new male and swapping them round some times helps

we had thought of this we were collecting one next week but now i have 2 pinkies so far

gerbil should pop soon too!

How old are the mice?
I had a couple of males that seemed infertile.They were kept with females for long time and the girls never ever got pregnant.

theyre roughly 15months now, but hes not infertile as we now have 2 beautifull pinkies...
and another of the females has ballooned up today

Yeah, maybe he's 'firing blanks'? I'd take him out now just in case. If they're not pregnant yet then they probably won't become so after just a few extra days...

Mice, just like rats, have a gestation period of an average 30 days.

Be sure the male is out of the cage when the females give birth, as the male can get the females pregnant seconds after birth. Two litters in a row is extremely hard on animals.

Most of the time, females do not show that they are pregnant until a week or even a few days before they give birth.

Thanks it was more a worry that the male wasnt "working" so too say
