He's decided to get a Select Comfort Bed... something i already have and love. He emailed me this morning about getting one and I responded with an email and list of local stores (local to him)... instead of going out and dealing with pushy salespeople, he just wanted to order online. I recommended certain options to him, from my own experience with the beds...

Well, God bless the man, he's having trouble with the website. Mind you the internet is how he does 95% of his shopping. He's 81, and hates going out... he's a softie and he knows he'll get pushed into a sale he will regret, so he'd rather just research what he wants, and order online... well, he can't find the Add To Cart button on the website... here I am, wanting to call him and walk him through it, but w/o my voice, the phone is useless. So I'm emailing him step by step instructions (after going through them myself and then erasing the cart contents each time), doing screen shots, etc... he's still having a hard time.

I offered in the last email to do the order for him... to let me know what he wants... since I can apparently get the Add To Cart button. We'll see if he lets me. Despite doing so much online, he still can't grasp some concepts about being online... still has trouble with email. I used to joke (although there's a LOT of truth in this) that my Dad is the PC guru (he builds his own desktops), my brother is the Mac guru (used to work in a Mac shop), and I'm the Internet guru... I'm the geek who owns multiple websites, has been online (and blazing through it) since 1996, and is more comfortable online than my brother, dad and sister combined (mom won't touch the power button on a monitor).

We'll see the results in the morning... he'll probably be off to bed shortly, if not already... and with being sick, I'm not gonna last much longer tonight either... so we'll see.

He really cracks me up...

Thats so cute, and your dad is way more experienced with the internet or computer than my parents, they are only in their 50's. My mother is also afraid to turn on the power button, she had to learn how to turn it on and play solitaire or freecell.

She just learnt how to turn on Msn to chat to me
she wont surf the web though!

My dad switched years ago to computers, starting with a 386. He's come a long way. He's a civil engineer and uses autocad for his work... he stored away the old green drafting table years ago. He even has a huge plotter for printing out his work. He's semi-retired, see, and works at home with clients from all over CA and some into Nevada.

He's given up and letting me do the ordering for him... only there's a snag... apparently they have a surcharge for delivering to CA... It was on the checkout screen, so I know he didn't see it... and I was so focused on getting him TO the checkout screen that I didn't see it until this morning... I've emailed him about that and am awaiting his reply. His latest email was titled: Elusive bed.
