I heard from my vet this afternoon with the biopsy results. Turns out Simba doesn't have a tumor at all!!! He has what is called a "Fungal Granuloma Infection". She said they have never come across this before, so she needs to consult with their dermatologist as far as next steps. She said they will do a stain and possibly a culture to find out more. I should know more early next week. I haven't had a chance to do any research yet, so have no idea what this is. He has battled ringworm on and off for many years and just got over a very bad outbreak not that long ago. I can't help but think this is somehow related to his ongoing ringworm issues. Sigh... I'm just thrilled to find out that it wasn't a cancerous tumor. I wish they wouldn't tell you these things until they are certain

If anybody has any experiences with a Fungal Granuloma please pass along any info. I have no idea what this is or what to expect from here.

From everything I know about granuloma, it's just a tissue reaction to inflammation, that causes something similar to scar tissue to form. Perhaps it's a tissue reaction to the fungal infection which has caused a build up of scar tissue in his ear. I know in surgery, a granuloma can easily be mistaken for a cancerous tumor. I'm so glad that the diagnosis turned out to be something benign. Hugs to you and Simba!!!

Yes... I thinks that's what happened with Simba. As you said, the granuloma can look very much like a cancerous tumor. I've been doing some digging online, but I'm not coming up with much on this
I'll feel better this week when I know more. Poor little guy definitely isn't himself and he keeps trying to get at that ear, although he isn't able to with the cone on. I just want him to be comfortable, I know he isn't out of the woods yet.
