I got this kitten a few days ago and I first kept her in the living room only and introduced her to the rest of the apartment little by little. Today I decided its time to move her litter box to the bathroom and her food and water to the kitchen.
First I moved the litter box. I just showed her the new place and soon enough she used it. Then I moved her food and water to the kitchen and she simply refused to eat or drink all day!
She behaved normally, played a lot as usual, slept a lot, snuggled with me but refused to eat or drink even when I ate, which is when she usually eats too. I waited thinking that when she gets hungry she will just go and eat but by evening I was worried. I was eating a sausage sandwich and she was begging me for a bite so I cut a small piece of the sausage and put it in her plate. She took the sausage in her mouth and run to the living room and as soon as she crossed from the linoleum floor of the kitchen and hall to the wood floor of the living room she dropped the food and started eating it. So I finally got the hint and moved her food back to the living room and she ate normally.
Is it possible that she doesn't like her food plate on the linoleum floor of the kitchen?

Heh heh, kitties are so funny with their likes and dislikes! Wish I could train my son to dislike the linoleum floor of the kitchen, so I wouldn't have to keep finding new hiding places for my oreos!
Your kitty should be very happy to have an owner attentive enough to figure that out.

Interesting! And funny! Maybe you could put down a small throw rug on the linoleum floor that you can put her food and water on.

The interesting is that I put plates over two newspaper pages on the living room and when I moved them to the kitchen I put the same newspapers over the linoleum. And most interesting is that she doesnt dislike linoleum by itself. She likes to lay down on it! It seems she dislike only her food on the linoleum...
I will try a rug but I'm afraid she'll try to play with it and mess her water and food doing it. She did it with the newspapers.
Actually Im happy that she loves to play with newspapers and paper balls. I wont have to buy expensive toys :-)

Mars, I understand your concern about your kitty wanting to play with throw rugs on your linoleum... Spike LOVES to play on throw rugs... sometimes when I wake up in the mornings, I find one of the little ones from the hall all the way in the kitchen... it's too cute!

Would it help if you use kitty place mats?
There are a lot out there with cute prints...

i also wonder if the kitchen floor is cold?
Maybe she prefers a warmer flooring like carpet or rug?

Hope your kitty is fine n well!
