One of the apostles had a long discussion about whether it was fitting to eat food that had been offered to the household idols.

So...our cats gather in the kitchen when we eat. Neither one has much use for human food; Punkin won't touch it, but he wants to sniff it. Just so he can reject it, I think. Sterling might take a taste or two, but usually he just sniffs it and walks away. But they always come back the next time we eat.

I've told Dottie that they are our "kitchen gods," and we have to offer the food to them before we can eat it. They eat as much of it as an idol would, right?

I wonder what the apostle would think...

Jamie likes to inspect our food, too, but he often samples/steals it. I call it his "kamikaze kitty" act. Just when you thought you had a piece of pizza on your plate, you catch a black and white flash out of the corner of your eye, and the pizza is gone.

Hubby picked up some cheese Danish yesterday for breakfast. I had two or three bites, got up to pour myself a second cup of coffee, and the Danish oddly vanished.

On the west side of... of... somewhere.
Jack will eat darn near anything meat related... JoJo won't do chicken... but will touch fish and lamb... she LOVES when I have lamb... she sits there and waits... Jack will try some but then walk away... but he loves chicken...

So whatever I'm eating, if it doesn't appease one Kitchen God, it'll appease the other!!

Under the cats, mostly.
Our two have perfected the "double-pronged" attack - one of them attracts our attention while the other snitches the food, then while our attention is diverted to chasing the cat with the food, the other steals what's left. It's amazing to think that after all this, I STILL need a diet!!

In the snow!!!!
Hubby and I always eat on the couch. Marcie sits on the back of the couch like a vulture, trying to intercept food as it enters my mouth. The little cat (Darcy) sits below the plate, in my lap, trying to intercept crumbs and tip the plate over.

My brother's cats will eat almost anything, right down to broccoli and watermelon. I guess we just don't treat ours right, because they never seem to be beggars like his are.

my rb cat janet loved his fruit and vegetables, especially tomatoes and peas! shinobi will try most things, and then make his mind up.

they all have to know what we are eating though, just to see if there is anything worth trying to get!

Oh, yeah, Sterling will stand next to the table, just looking sad. Give him a sniff, and he turns up his nose and trots out.

Your brother has my cat!
My cat doesn't beg, she just takes.
And I don't let her do this, we have to guard our stuff if we want it. We live with several dogs, all obedience trained, all very nice dogs to be around, great manners, then we have this cat we still can't train after years
Sigh...

Each of my cats have a different taste for human food, but they have never ever begged and will not steal. They just sit there and stare at you, until fulfill their desires

I had a friend over eating for lunch the other day and Easy shamefully jumped on the kitchen table. I was so embarrased because she never does that when company is here. Im not sure why she decided to change that up on me. When she came though Kiko and Ducky decided they would come on the table too

I told my friend, that if she didnt mind being stared down, that they would not bother her food. So we sat there for the next 30 minutes with Easy, Kiko and Ducky sitting on the table staring at us eating and me periodically cracking up every 5 minutes

Not once did they bother her food. They are good like that.

I call that begging. They are not leaving you alone and going about their own business, they are staring you down with those huge eyes while you eat in anticipation of you giving them some of your food. It is a more polite way of begging than say smacking you with a paw but it is still begging for food.
