It's a possibility that we could be getting a Maltese/Shih-Tsu mix off of Craigslist. It says free to a good home, includes pictures (obviously taken at home), and says they'll include everything - kennel, tys, toy box, etc. However, it's only one dollar.
Is this normal? It seems a bit...well, cheap, especially for a littler dog. If it's still available (posted yesterday) I'd like to make sure it's not a scam. Any ideas/warning signs to watch out for?

If it helps any, here's the link to the posting. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/for/638032510.html

They will probably waive the $1 if they are serious. But the whole thing sounds strange.

Sounds a bit strange. But check it out if they live close. Wondering if its a misprint on the amount they want. I'd print out the ad and take it with you if they say anything.

Good idea, I'll print it out now in case they change anything up.

Thanks for the advice. I thought it was odd too, but the pictures seem genuine enough that I didn't want to bypass it in case it's real.

I think it is a Craigslist rule that you cannot post "free to good home" ads and that you have to charge a rehoming/adoption fee to keep out people who scoop up free to good home pets and re-sell to research labs. So they may be willing to give the dog away to anyone to give it a good home, but have to put the $1 fee in there to adhere to Craigslist rules.

No reply yet. It's only been a day since I emailed and it was posted a day before, but he could very well be gone since the deal was so good.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, but my hopes aren't high.
