, like I said my granny was from Italy and not good with English.
My Italian friend says that in Italy they call their pets American sounding names as a dig at the Americans!

Anyways, did anyone guess that pretty blue bird right?

It could be a house martin, but I was assuming N. American (I know, bad, bad Arlyn), and we have no house martins in N.A.

You were so close though!!!! I just looked up that bird and they are almost identical! The killdeer lives here in Iowa, but I have always thought it looked like an ocean bird. They don't hang out in the city/town area, but you can always find them on a country road. Strange place for a bird that looks like it belongs on a beach!

Killdeer, plover and sandpipers are all in the same family though and all are considered shore/wetland birds.

I've see more killdeer on the prairies, than I've seen near wetlands.

I'll have to agree with you on that one! There's only creeks around here. The rest is pairie and crops.
Maybe those birds changed their mind about where they want to live!

They are a really bothersome bird! They are noisy, as you might have guessed from the picture, and they pick on smaller birds.
