My year old cat bully's my six year old cat to the point that she will not come out for fear of being attacked. How can I break her of this and make her understand that the older cat was there first/has rights too?

Cats always have to establish who is alpha. But if it is to the point where the cat is flat out being bullied you have to figure out a few things. Are both cats fixed? Number one thing to do. Also I would look into something like Feliway and keep the cats separated for awhile.
