I hope you are talking about replacement milk and not homogonized milk. Milk for small kittens can cause digestive upset and blocked bowels. It is the only liquid you can drink that comes out solid, so please don't give your new babies regular milk. I usually start them out with baby food, chicken or turkey, then some dried food when they are old enough mixed with baby food and a little water. Gradually as they grow, they will get dry food and kitten canned food. I stop the water, because the dry kibble is good for their teeth and jaws.

Kittens really can't and wont eat anything else until they are about 6 weeks old. You can start with mixing the KMR milk replacer with the dry food to make a soft gruel or try a little canned kitten food. They can start to get dry food at about 7 or 8 weeks. The dry food you cant really force on them but leave it out for them to nibble if they want to. They will usually go for it because they like it and it's new.

We put out a kitten canned food, 6 oz. size, mixed with a teaspoon of plain yogurt or cottage cheese. The yogurt and cottage cheese add calcium but you won't overdose them like you might with a powdered supplement. Our last litter was 7 kittens, so we used 2 cans mixed like I stated and mom and the kittens chowed down. We actually started supplementing mom's wet food immediately after birth. It's always a good idea to add calcium to a nursing mom's diet, especially with a large litter, as her body will only manufacture so much for the kittens and then it starts to pull from mom's own resource; her bones. Hope this helps.
