I am asking this because I bought a pretty bed for my princess and she won't sleep in it! NOPE! I wanna cry because if the bed is as big as I am, I would have jumped on it in a heartbeat!

She prefers my computer chair, on the top of my rubbermaid container, next to my piles of shoes, under the bed, on my dining chairs tucked under my dining table, on top of the decorative antique table (grrrr....) and most of all at night, on my bed at my feet (which I totally dig btw).

How oh how do I get her to sleep on her own bed? *Sigh*

I bought two different really nice cat beds. Ginger will sleep in it if no one else is around. No one else will. Mojo uses one of the beds as her "turtle shell" when she dives underneath it and then swipes at our ankles as we walk past her.

Ophelia sleeps on top of the headboard, or under the bed.

Trent sleeps on Earl's recliner (we say it's the "boy chair"
)

Ginger sleeps on top of the Dish Receiver (it's very warm) or on my recliner.

Mojo sleeps on the cat tree, somewhere on the couch or back of the couch, under the bed, on my head (at night), on Daddy's pillow, or anywhere she lands when she's tired. But it's never in a kitty bed.

Seb used to sleep in his bed before we moved. Hasn't touched it since. He basically sleeps wherever my hiney has been - easy chair, computer chair. Also sleeps by my side at night and loves the computer tower.

Daphne sleeps smack dab in the middle of the floor, on a bookshelf, the table or the entertainment center.

I have some cute pictures of them with their heads hanging out of the condo. I will have to upload these among others from my digital camera

Mi-ke is currently sleeping on an old pillow that I got out to put on my computer chair. Other common places for Mi-ke or Tora are my bed, the cable box, a Cat Magnet blanket, a cardboard box full of wadded-up packing paper, and one of the cat beds. Of course, I also find them under my bed, under my dresser, in my closet, on the back of the sofa, on the floor, in the kitchen cabinet...

Don't despair, she will sleep there someday. Then after a while she will nap somewhere else and then go back again. Cats are funny.

My Devon girl sleeps on the dish receiver...she barely fits in the cubby hole where it is, but she still does it! My Devon boy has been really affectionate lately so he's been on my lap ALOT this past week. All of my siamese sleep on the staircases, I think because of the vantage point and they're carpeted.
They have been known to be curled up in my walk in closet too.

When my devons were little, we used to find them buried under the covers of our bed...way deep inside.

In the evenings when we're on the computer, Bonnie the devon will sleep sitting up on my hubby's desk, not sure why!! Bob has a really comfy bed I bought on sale at Walmart...I think it's actually a dog bed, but he loves it because it's by the fireplace and nice and warm.

on my bed; on the cat pads i got them [they have some kind of 'heat reflective' lining]; on the sofas; on the chairs; in a basket of dirty clothes
; on the window nappers; on me
; Java sometimes sleeps on the directtv receiver box; & every once in a great while, on one of the cat beds!

BE PATIENT! haha

Oliver's lambswool snuggle ball from Foster and Smith sat on my apartment floor at school for 2 years and he never touched it - yet he wouldn't let me throw away the box it came in, cuz he played in it all the time... but I moved back home after graduation and put the ball on my bedroom floor and it didn't take him long to get comfy!

Things that may have helped this process lol: when he wasn't using it at school, I'd use it as a floor pillow, so I'm sure it smells like me to his kitty nose; I also put his hair in it - ok like I brush him and what I get off I put in the middle of the ball... so then it smells like him and he thinks it's his; what really got him in it though, I think, is one night I put a bit of his most favorite cat nip in the middle and showed him and he was rolling around in it immediately! Also, like if you pick her up to give her snuggles, instead of plopping her back on the floor or your bed, put her on the new bed - if she stays for a moment, praise her! You can also try putting some treats or kibble in the bed - she'll associate the bed with good things and hopefully realize that it's a nice place to nap!

Oliver also rotates where he likes to sleep too - at night, it's ALWAYS in bed with me though... but napping is everywhere - sometimes in the ball, sometimes in his crate, sometimes in his (ahem, my!) bean bag chair, sometimes on the back of the couch, sometimes in his doughnut bed, sometimes on the chair... and he's funny, like he hasn't been in his crate in a looong time, now watch tomorrow he'll nap in it haha

Hope this helps, I know I was frustrated thinking I had bought a $35 floor pillow from foster and smith that I didn't want/need for myself haha

Oh also!
Try putting the bed somewhere kind of out of the way or private and not smack in the living room... lots of kitties like to feel private, safe and secure when they sleep and not in the middle of the hub-bub of the house and family

Loving my beautiful baby girl
Anywhere they want!
Where they are depends on where I am. In the bedroom, they both sleep on the bed, and when I'm sitting or lying there, they're usually be one on each side of me, and then Sierra prefers the dresser while Serenity will go to the top of her kitty tree or the window. In the kitchen, Sierra gets precedence, and they take turns with the top of the fridge, the cabinet, the table, the chair, and lately Serenity has been enjoying the bottom shelf of the baker's rack. In the bathroom, Sierra's favorite spot is my rubbermaid container on the the cabinet by the sink, and Serenity likes her spot on the throne, seat down, of course
My sweet little loves

Buster sleeps in one of those soft round pet beds that I placed at the foot of my bed. He'll also sleep in a box of clothes. He used to sleep in his scratching tree post but he's over that phase.

Holly Golightly sleeps on a box of vintage clothes as well as my bed.

On the DVR.
Seldon and Mary used to tussle over it but now they sleep side by side on it. Cleo likes to be on my daughter's bed right next to her.
They like their cat tree, they have destroyed the lining under my daughter's bed and made a home there.
On my ottoman.
On my bed.
On me.

Most of mine sleep anywhere. The couch, computer chair, our bed and various other places. Aurora always sleeps right next to me at night, with her front paws on my arm and her head just under my chin. The bobcats will sleep on their tri level rack/platform if they are inside or sometimes on the bed with us at night.

Wherever they want:

--the loveseat,
--the armchair (Rocky's favorite, but he will deign to let Oliver use it),
--the couch (you wouldn't think a cat could take up half a couch, but they both s-t-r-e-t-c-h themselves out until they do),
--the bathroom (mostly in the summer),
--under the bookcase in my living room,
--the windowsill,
--the laundry basket,
--the bed,
--and of course, anywhere on or near me.

Rocky likes to sleep on my feet when I'm lying down, so if I turn from my back to my side, I have to move carefully so I don't disturb him. Oliver prefers to sleep on my head; when my hair was long, he'd sleep on my hair, but after I cut it, he learned to arrange himself around my head.

My RB cat Miles used to nap in the bathroom sink. I think I even caught my mom wiping the sink dry for him once.
Are we well-trained cat slaves, or what?

During the day Riley sleeps on the top perch of his cat tree. In the evening, he sleeps on the couch next to me. At night he goes upstairs and gets in his cat bed which sits on top of a small dresser. He rarely changes his routine

I've purchased at least three beds. Carly will use one every so often. Right now, Much is on the desk beside me on an old place mat. Carly is stuffed into a shoe box. Lucy is actually sleeping in the cat igloo thing
. It is right beside the heat register so she's all nice and toasty.

Peek-a-Boo is all about sleeping on my pillow. It's not a specific pillow that he loves, it's just whichever one I happen to be using for the night is his new favorite as soon as my head touches it. He'll climb right up and lay his stomach against the top of my head and sleep that way. It's his favorite place to sleep, if I'm not in bed he prefers either my laundry hamper or my computer desk.

Skittles loves to sleep in the middle of the kitchen floor for some reason. *laughs*

Cats are so contrary!
I bought Oscar a three way bed. It can be either a pyramid, a 'couch' or a donut shaped bed. He favours the donut shape. I got him to sleep in it by lining it with treats. He realised how comfy it was and decided it would do for his naps. It's in the kitchen and he tends to sleep in it when I'm doing the washing up. He likes to keep me company

Apart from that, if he manages to get upstairs, he'll sleep on our bed. Usually on the part where I've left my black sweater or jeans!
