Wishing I were anywhere but here
I opened the window to let some fresh air in, but my screen has a hole that I've taped up. Obviously, the tape isn't sticking any more and while I was on the phone, she snuck out!

I was on the phone for about 5-10 mins before I realized she might have gotten out. I went outside to check and saw her walking through the flowerbed. When she saw me she started to run! I managed to corner her and brought her back inside!

She was a bad kitty!
I couldn't imagine losing her also.

Oh no - I'm so glad you were able to catch up with her. Right after we got Carly, we had a painter here to give us an estimate. As I was joining them outside, I noticed this cat walking up the driveway. Turns out it was Carly. I was so relieved that she didn't disappear on us since I'm sure it would have been some time before we would notice she was gone.

It is always very scary when they get out.

Mary has gotten out three times.
The first time we are still unsure how. We came home and she was gone. I was beside myself with worry. We found her in a storm drain crying.
The second was when we moved to the country so that I could recuperate from major surgery. There was a door that did not close properly and she would get out but hide in the bushes. I was terrified because we had coyotes and she is a city cat not a country cat.
The last time was when she chased the ferals away.
Now she is not interested at all in the outdoors.

Cleo went exploring when he was a kitten one day when he got out and the big bad world scared him so he darted right back in. End of his career as an explorer.

It is frightening to be sure.
