My boys are 13lbs each and I had to stop their dry food because of tummy problems, which I'm fine with.... but is 1/2 a 5.5oz can each 2x a day enough? I feed Merrick and Wellness wet.

According to Dr. Lisa Pierson's article here, calculating how much food needs to be, how many calories does my cat require?

All the tools you need to do this are in this section ...scroll down until you see "Example 1"

The Wellness - IF it's grain-free - is widely acknowledged as a quality food.

The Merrick.....check the ingredients against what Dr. Pierson says about appropriate ingredients ('m not familiar with it).

I have yet to meet the 250 calorie a day cat... my 8-9 lb ( on the lean side eats 350-400 a day )..

This is the GENERALLY accepted by natural and conventional vets... 1/2 oz to 1 oz per lb per day ... so 5.5 oz is on the low end since it is not quite 1/2 oz per lb, but alot depends on activity level , age and any issues that are present... keep an eye on wt .. are they at a proper wt now??... both food s your feeding are accepted BY MANY nutritionally minded folks as good... grain or grain free in wet foods has LITTLE total carb impact ave grain containing is 10-15% carb and grain free is 2-10% ....

Thanks! I think I am going to start upping them a bit, they have looked like they were losing weight (one of them needed that, lol) since I stopped the dry.

Yes for a 12/13 lb cat that should be fine. Charlie is 11 lbs, Ling about 9 lbs and they eat about 2/3 can of food for supper (each getting a good 1/3 can). But they eat dry in the morning.

If they were fed canned all the time, I'd split a full can in half for them.
