I just caught this on the news this morning. Not sure if anyone else has already posted about it.

I am shocked although I know I shouldn't be. How could anyone do this and believe it is acceptable?

I hope they do get charged as adults.

That is just horrible. I hope they are all charged as adults too.

Personally, I think it's all staged for their 15 min of fame. Kids nowadays are always looking for attention.

That's disgraceful!. I hate seeing men punching seven bells out of each other, but young women is even worse.

If they let them get away with it they'll more than likely do it again to someone else, so it needs nipped in the bud, and quick.

I saw this on the news yesterday morning & thought it was so awful
They said that one of the girls that they had in questioning wasn't even worried about being there, she was more worried about getting let go in time for cheerleading practice

That video they showed on Good Morning America was awful too, I couldn't imagine being the parents of that girl that got beat

This isnt shocking since it seems like the norm nowadays, and this isnt the first time something like this occurred. Go on youtube and you'll see a bunch of these videos, some are even so bad they should be reported. People have no lives and like others said just want attention.

On the drive home, the afternoon talk people were talking with the sherriff that headed up the investigation.

The first thing he said that amazed me is that this isn't the first time the girl was beaten at that house. She had been lured there once before, knocked out, and when she woke up she was beaten too. (Not blaming the victim, but why did she go back?!?!?) This time, he said the victim has bruises from head to foot, a concussion, and they aren't sure (but are hopeful) if she'll regain all of her hearing or sight in her left ear and eye.

He also talked about the "girls'" demeanor when they were arrested. They were joking around, no remorse at all. Some of them joked that they knew they wouldn't be going to the beach for Spring Break (this week), and the one who asked if she would be out in time for cheerleading practice the next afternoon.

He listed the charges against them and the possible penalties. They are recommending to the DA that they are charged as adults, except for the one boy is already an adult and will be charged as such no matter what. If I'm adding right, they all could get from 10-15 years. I hope their 15 minutes of fame was worth that.

You could just hear the contempt for those girls in his voice.

From what I read in the article I think the girl that got beat was staying there because it said she had no where else to stay.

Quote:
According to local newspaper accounts, the victim had been staying at the house with Nichols after being thrown out of her own home.
IMO all involved in this beating should be charged even if they never threw a punch. They were there and from the sounds of it did nothing to stop the attack.

Can you believe they put a gag order on everyone involved with this case?

Bummer for the defense team but probably the best for justice

The fact that they showed no remorse is what's sickening to me... this is one or two steps up from what I witness around my work... teens who think they're entitled to be monstrous little brats and treat others with disrespect and rudeness.

Everyone involved should be charged as an adult, even if they didn't throw a punch. They didn't stop the beating, they didn't make an effort.

I hope they all love prison... oh, wait, no designer outfits and cell phones in prison... or time off for spring break. Let's just hope that they do eventually realize that there are consequences for their foolish actions and that they can't go around being b****es and beating people up...

Snot-nosed little punks...

Sorry if i seem a little p*ssy this morning... no voice and no coffee...

That's just sick. I just heard of a case like that too. 10 and 11 year old girls beat up another 10 year old because she told them to stop picking on her little sister. These 3 girls broke the 10 year old's hip!
Here's a link
And how about the teacher getting in trouble because a student punched her? They are actually blaming the teacher!! The teacher told the girl to sit down!! I saw that one on Yahoo! today.

As a teacher I am not really surprised. Some of these kids can get away with anything, and their parents refuse to do anything about it. And when you do discipline them (detention, suspensions..etc) they come back worse then when they leave! It's crazy!

I read the other day that one of the accused mothers said that the victim had posted something on my space about the girls who did the beating, like it was some kind of defense?? No wonder these kids are thugs with parents like that, I know I shouldn't lump them all together, but this makes me sick.

If you haven't seen, they are all being charged as adults.

Eight Florida teenagers -- six of them girls -- will be tried as adults and could be sentenced to life in prison for their alleged roles in the videotaped beating of another teen, the state attorney's office said Thursday. The suspects, who range in age from 14 to 18, all face charges of kidnapping, which is a first-degree felony, and battery, said Chip Thullbery, a spokesman for the Polk County state attorney. Three of them are also charged with tampering with a witness.
I wonder if they're still laughing and making jokes?

Good, I hope they lock them up and throw away the key! What sickos! I would love to see us get all the bad-apples off of the streets and put away for a long time, just like they deserve. I have no sympathy at all for them.

Good. Too bad we can't be there to video tape their introduction to some real tough girls. My guess is that cheerleading will be the last thing on their minds.

This is what I found, but there are many more stories out there about it:

Looks like someone in the Dr Phil camp messed up.

Also, if there is a gag order in place, doesn't that apply to talk shows as well?

I was seeing this on tv last week. I'm just absolutely disgusted at how teenagers and children act these days. I hope they get sent to jail and have the same thing done to them, to be honest. There's no need for getting even when karma will bite them in the ass anyway. I personally blame the parents for not teaching a little thing called respect. If this is our future, we're royally screwed.
My god, teenagers are so dumb these days. Yeah, I'm still one, but only for several more months, and I never acted like that.

I heard this today but haven't looked it up. I heard the girls in this attack are just gonna get probation. Anyone else hear this?
