Besides cats, that is..

Most of us have one.
I'll admit it: with me, it's jewelry - especially diamonds & tanzanite!
I'm not addicted or obsessed to the point where it's out of control, but if I see a good bargain, or if I have the money, it's mine!

Do you have an addiction or obsession??

Shopping ........ I love shoes, clothes, purses, makeup, art, pictures, wine glasses, dishes, cooking utensils, the list goes on and on.

I could shop for hours for anything. It actually relaxes me.

I love shopping, I don't even care what its for! I will go to Target and roam the store for hours, just randomly looking at things
Its so relaxing & I love being alone and shopping!

Mine would have to be designer things. I mean not everything I own has to contain a label. But for example I have my Tiffany's bracelet which was a gift, one Coach purse that I treated myself too when I got a raise at work and my Dior glasses that I bought with some luck in Vegas. Would I like to have more sure I can spend hours on ebay looking at stuff but will I go and blow all my money on the stuff never.

Besides pets? Mine would probably be a few select video games, and also books.

Turtles!

I love my babies and they mean the world to me. I feel great joy knowing I have kept them alive for nearly 4 years and look forward to the many many years ahead of us.

I have some turtle paraphenalia if you will but I don't go crazy.

I have 3-4 stuffed turtles including Yyrtle the Turtle from Dr Seuss I have a couple tshirts, a pair of socks, and a few jewelry items.

Also the theme of my wedding was Turtles.

I have ten turtles and no turtle paraphernalia - that would be a bit much even for me.

My addiction is music. I bought 9 cds last week.
I have no idea how many DH and I have together, my guess is around 500...or more. When I have space I plan to start collecting vinyl. It's higher quality then cd and for a lot of the older albums - great album art.
For a lot of the music I grew up with there are good memories tied to it, and my parents and uncle were really into music (big stereos, large vinyl and cassette collections). I guess it carried over to me.

Awww...do you have any pics of your wedding you can post? I've honestly have never seen a turtle theme wedding! Sounds great!!

My addiction is candles. And books, although I don't buy them at the bookstore unless I'm treating myself. Normally, I go to second hand stores or roam the yard sales in summer.

I love kitchen stuff. Pots, pans, small appliances, gadgets, dishes....well you get the idea!
When I was working I was always buying stuff for my kitchen. In fact my yearly rewards to myself for not smoking, have usually been something "household" related, and often for the kitchen.

I know lots of women who love clothes, shoes, purses, jewellery. I've never been a "clothes horse". Largely because I hate trying on clothing. I'd rather have my nails pulled off than go and shop for clothing.

I do love hats and purses and wallets too. Oh... and books! I love books. I occasionally buy a paperback, but since I've been able to get to the library again I've been borrowing books instead of buying them.

OMG! You're awesome!!
I'm soo happy to find another turtle freak!!!!

On my honeymoon i picked up two t-shirts with turtles on them and tons and tons more of the little painted wooden bobble headed turtles. I've been collecting them for years. I swear i have enough for an entire heard now
I must get new pictures sometime soon!!!

(here's an old pictures of only a fraction of my wooden turtle collection
(by the way at the time i didn't know the betta should have been in a larger tank- he was moved into a huge one not long after the pic was taken!)

Hummm lets see, aside from turtles, i'm obsessed with Giraffes! I even "adopted" one of the giraffes at the Memphis Zoo- we donate to the little guy's fund constantly and love going to the zoo to visit!!! I've got tons of giraffe statues, i sleep with a stuffed giraffee....and i've got lots of pics. of me with some local zoo giraffes when i used to help volunteer at the zoo. I love them
My goal when we have kids is to do the entire nursery in giraffes

That aside, pretty much any kind of shopping i love- shoes, clothes, groceries (i love to cook), things for the pets, things for the house, you name it i love to shop

and my biggest obsessions....candles and .....

I go through various obsessions as I go through life. For instance, I decided in college that (besides textbooks) I wanted to read books on vampires. So that's all I read for about 7-8 years. The only real reason I stopped is because I had read all the non-fiction I could find (including a 1600s book on vampires by Montegue Sumners, a Catholic Priest...that was pretty dry
), and because I'm very picky about vampire fiction. Then I moved on to true crime/serial killers/forensics and particularly profiling. I read that for about 6 years non-stop.

But the real mainstay of obsessions for me is music. I know WAY too much about 80s and 90s rock/metal. And then came Nine Inch Nails. I am seriously obsessed with Trent Reznor. And my husband knows it, has always known it (I had subway posters on my walls when we met), and not only put up with it but caters to it.

I guess now my obsession is cats, which I know doesn't count for this thread, but it's true. I love learning about them and the breeds and caring for them and all that.

Glass! Any interesting glass, especially vintage glass like Jade-ite, carnival glass, power insulators, glass blocks, even fuses and percolator tops. I even have one old Depression glass marble that glows in the dark!

I love art glass, too, especially the amazing work of Dale Chihuly... but finding an old Jade-ite coffee cup for fifty cents at Goodwill is as big a thrill as I can afford.

And of course, glass beads. I love to make jewelry, and I've amassed quite a collection of beautiful glass beads to work with... if I can ever find the time...

I also love anything with a ginkgo leaf motif, but I've had very little luck finding such things -- so far, I only have the ginkgo leaf earrings I beaded myself a few years ago, and a sterling silver ring that's cast from a real ginkgo leaf. But I'm working on it!
