The boys got neutered today!

Griffin and Bastian were neutered today! We had to wait a bit to get it done - they are over 7 months old, but the vet preferred to postpone surgery until we kicked the ringworm. (We are finally ringworm free!!!) I called the vet's office this afternoon, and everything went fine. They also got their microchips placed. I am picking them up in about an hour.

It's been a long time since I've had a male cat neutered. When Piper got spayed, she had a rough first night home. But I would expect that the boys would have an easier time of it, since their surgery is less extensive. Is that correct? Please send them some quick recovery vibes.

Give them some extra hugs from all of us. They may still be a bit groggy from the anaesthesia, but yes, generally it is much easier for the boys than the girls. Our vet didn't staple or glue Bijou - he just pulled the incision together and off we went. He did say to keep an eye that he didn't "over-lick" the incision. Some licking is to be expected I suppose. All went well with our boy as I'm sure it will with yours as well.

Most times the males are up running around in a day or two. Don't worry if they don't want to eat as much for the next day. Just be sure to check and keep clean when they use the litter box

I've heard males recover faster than females. After being spayed, Chloe was trying to jump on everything but would fall because the anesthesia made her groggy. It was really hard to keep her as inactive as possible. Thankfully her scar healed fine. Sending lots of quick healing vibes your way!

Thank you for being a responsible person and doing the right this. I hope you will remember to treat yourself to something special today and in honor of being such a good kitty-meowmmy, there's a little gift for you in your PM Inbox.

Thank you very much! The boys have been home for a few hours now, and they are doing fine. A little sleepy and wobbly, but I think they'll be back to normal soon. Griffin was even eating a little bit ago.

My new dog also got spayed today, and she is not faring quite as well, poor thing. She was throwing up continuously at the vet so they gave her an antiemetic, but she's still vomited twice since we've been home. Her surgery was kind of long because she had apparently had c-sections in the past, so she had adhesions that the vet had to deal with. The poor thing can't seem to get comfortable; she did get an injection for pain, and they gave me some pain pills to give her over the next few days, but she's still really uncomfortable. If you have any doggy-vibes, please send them to Bea for a quick recovery!

Yay on successful kitten neutering! We just got our boys done last week and they were back to normal by the next day (well, Stevie only forgave us over the weekend). Neutering is so much easier than spaying, isn't it? Our girl kitten was done about a month ago and I felt so bad for her!

Here's to a good recovery!
