Hey folks,
I recently decided to order an air purifier for my bedroom because I ocassionally wake up with a stuffy nose, dry throat, etc. Because of the amount of time the cats spend in there (that's where their cat tree is and where I feed 2 of them). I figured that it wouldn't hurt to run one to help suck up some of the cat dander, etc. The one I purchased has a HEPA filter and a permanant washable pre-filter as well as an ionizer you can turn on/off.

I did have a spare litterbox in my room at one time, but moved it because of the ocassional smell and because I thought it could add to the dust in the room. Once I get the air purifier hooked up, I might move it back, we'll see.

So, for those that run an air purifier, has it helped your breathing, allergies, etc to your cats? I am not allergic to them, but figured that the dander/hair could be an irritant that the filter would help with, so I'm curious as to others experiences.

We have a Living Air and it works great. My husband is allergic and it helps his allergies. We also have the hepa type filters in each room , but it's a pain to change the filter every 3 months. It's usally filled with pet hair and dust you would not believe. I think air purifiers are great

I'm allergic to cats and other allergens and I run a hepa air filter in my bedroom. It does help and ditto on the amount of cat hair and dust I see when I change the filter.

We have a Honeywell Quietcare (1700 model series) and it's great. We had it for several months before we got our cat and even then it made a huge difference. Once we got the cat, we moved it into the office because that's where we had him adjust for the first couple of days.

We didn't smell a molecule of litter dust or waste. Since he now roams around the house, we put it back in the living room. I'm thinking about moving it back into the office (now that we know what a difference it makes with the litter dust) and getting another one for the living room and maybe the bedroom, too.

The HEPA filter only needs to be replaced every 2-3 years (it's about $50) and the charcoal pre-filter that wraps around the HEPA lasts about 3 months and $10 or less to replace.
