My five year old cat is thin, she had pancreatitis a few months ago and her weight has dropped . She has never been on the fat or heavey side and always hanging on the line of standard weight or just a bit below. our vet didnt reconmend any foods, but she is not allowed any FISH OR SEAFOOD because of the high hystamine levels, the vet also said not to stuff her because it puts too much work on her digestive system. she is currently eating Hills Nature's best but i hear that Hills isnt good even if it costs more, so i am thinking of changing to Pro Plan. I also feed her steemed chicken everyday, but i am also afraid she will become a very picky eater. She likes to have all her food actually put in her mouth be me, she has a flat face so i understand that it is difficult for her to pick up bits of food and after a while she got used to it and refuses to eat without being handfed (even yummy food)

is there any way to make her plump in a healthy way without feeding her fatty foods that are bad for her pancreas?
has anyone of you ever had problems with cat weight?

Thankyou

First of all, I'd check with your vet on how he thinks she is weight-wise.

My Damita has lost weight & the vet advised I feed her some canned A/D (a presciption diet for thin/sick animals) every day. Otherwise she eats normally.

A good friend of mine's cat was also prescribed the same sort of thing, as she had been unwell and was quite skinny. I agree - talk to your vet and see if he can recommend any special food to be given to your cat. The same friend orders all of her food through her vet.

yes see the vet and see if there is a reason other than a fast metabolism causing this...

SD nature is MAINLY grain ... check the label

for the same price compare it to Royal canin , Solid gold , Natural Balance , Nutro , Blue spa

My vet gave me an appetite stimulant for my cat who won't eat very much. I'm still trying to figure out if it really worked or not. He's still the same weight - 5 lbs.

i talked to my vet and she said that there is no need for any prescriptions foods like a/d but it would be good for her to gain some more weight because she is below normal weight. She just had a fur cut and she is pretty thin.
do you guys think pro plan is a good food?
what about purina fish blend?

pro plan has some good ones in general they are better than SD ... purina naturals is very decent and avail at grocery and big box if $$ and convience are issues
