Tonight a stray cat was meowing at my door and I decided to let it in, but kept it away from my other cats, and brought it to another room, and i realize its pregnant and looks like it can be due any minute now,
BUT seeing how its a stray I know it has some fleas and/or ticks
Now i was thinkin about giving it a bath but then i was like NO it might kill the babies.
So can i give it a flea bath ?
I need to know now just in case she has them now! its 2:52 AM no vets open lol
she looks like shes gonna have them any MINUTE!
I dont want all the kittens to die, like one time i have a pregnant cat and the kittens died cuz they had fleas
anyways so yea, Can I give it a bath?
I have this type of shampoo
sergeant's gold flea and tick shampoo
it says i should contact a vet b4 use of pregnant cats, but dont have time
and besides i hope vets dont charge for that cuz we aint got no money!
so yea thanks!
btw its my birthday today and i turned 17 yay lol!

to be honest i wouldnt use it if it says to ask a vet first.

are you sure its not your neighbors cat or something? it seams tame if it came to the door and just came in.

I dont know about using the flea shampoo since it warns against it... but you are right, fleas on kittens are lethal! Fleas are blood suckers and will cause anemia in baby kittens.

You could give her a bath in normal dish detergent. Then comb off all the fleas you see. For now... Then tomorrow when the vets are open, get some flea drops. I believe it's Advantage that is safe on pregnant and nursing mothers.

Good luck with your pregnant stray... and Happy Birthday!

Yes, regular dish detergent (Dawn) wont hurt her - besides scaring her

The reason you cant use flea shampoo is that the chemicals they use can cause neurological damage.

I've given brand new orphan kittens baths in Dawn and picked fleas off with tweezers. They're never happy, but they're healthier

Keep your cats away from her as much as possible right now, not only because you don't want them to get fleas, but because she's so close to labor. Try to avoid stressing her, she's already in a strange place with someone who's putting water and soap on her. :p I'd shut her in a room away from the others and try to set up a comfortable place for her to birth the kittens.

Also, a method we used to use for my cat when bathing him was to take a plastic shopping bag and cut holes for his legs and head, then just kind've dip him in the water as we washed him. :p I'd be careful about it with her, though - it'll put some pressure on her belly. Try to let her stand in the water and just use the bag as a harness if you try this method. He could never do anything to us when we did this, so you can try.

i also have another concern
her tail... looks CUT-OFF
like someone cut it off
its really short up to the booty
and it doesnt have fur at the end of the tail
and it has a scab on the tip...
she gets defensive when i touch it..
so my concern is, is the tail cut off or is it a manx cat?

probably an injury of some sort... she really should see a vet. are there any low-cost clinics in your area?

Does it look healed up or bloody/scabbed if it looks healed it can just be an old injury. Some cats/dogs who have injured tails or parts of their tail removed will always be sensitive in that area.

Not sure about the air freshener...My cats babies kicked for about 2 weeks before she gave birth. Are your cats breasts bagging with milk yet? When they do it should be very soon.

You can tell when they are bagged when their milk glands are swollen like "breasts" this is a sign they are ready to nurse babies and babies should come within 2 days of them bagging.

I'm not talking about the nipples but the actual glands. They are like an actual small breast when filled with milk.
