Popsie has always finished his wet food servings until recently. For about a week now he's only been eating half. It's not a loss of appetite because he still eats the same amount of dry. In fact it seems he's preferring dry over wet. Could he just be tired of it. Should I try something different?

Do you vary the "meat"? I rotate between beef, chicken, lamb, turkey, venison, duck (sometimes its a combo one). If you are just feeding one flavor, then he may be tired of it all the time.

He might just be bored. Nabu will stop eating a food if he's eaten it too often. (his latest victim is Meow Mix pouches
) With his Fancy Feast and Friskies there are enough flavors he doesn't really get bored.

Mine have started the same thing. They normally love their wet food. But the last week or so they've been eating much less wet in the morning...in fact today they ignored the wet completely but finished off their left over dry that we left out overnight. This evening though they devoured their wet. We've been feeding them merrick's, some cal nat and recently tried eagle pack. I don't think they are fans of the eagle pack. We are going to try sticking with the merick's for awhile and just feeding wet in the evening for a week or two just to see what happens.

If he has been eating the same thing for awhile I'd change it up to see if he just needs some variety.

I think they go through phases. It could be that the company changed the formula from in the past and your kitties don't like the change.

You can try different wet food brands for variety. For my cats, (I have 6) I put a dab of three different kinds on a plate so they have little samples of each. They love that. Some choices are more popular than others though. None of them would eat a whole 3 oz can by themselves though before they got tired of it and walked away. Some will go back and finish, others will not touch it again after walking away. One tries to bury it.

Bury it - that is so cute!

We have three kittens and we do something similar - I always bring up three different flavours of food to feed them. They all start out with their original and when they get bored, they move on to the next flavour. I agree with what others have said - it sounds like he is just bored of his wet food. Change things up, see if that helps. I know our kittens (who normally LOVE their wet food) have their favourites of the flavours, and when they got bored of their normal food, I just bought a different group of flavours and they were fine again.

Yes. They can get bored of it.
I give mine Wellness pouches with gravy and they will go nutty for one flavor but then not want it so much. So I learned to rotate.

Riley gets bored and stops eating any particular flavor/brand of food after about a month, so I am constantly rotating his wet food with new ones all the time. Often he will go back in a few months and start eating the old ones again. I think he just gets bored easy.

I have noticed that his appetite has decreased just a bit lately, but I think he is finally out of his major growing phase though, since his weight has leveled off some now. He is 15 months now and finally stopped eating like a starving kitten. How old is Popsie? Maybe he is going through the same thing?
