This girl was going to be taken to the local kill shelter this week. She was one of an "oops" litter... the guy was on vacation and his Beagle went into heat. His Dachshund got to the female and when the guy found out about it he remembered that litters sometimes have more than one father so he put his male Beagle with the female.
I had to get this baby out of there. She's only 6 weeks old unfortunately but is at least eating on her own. I couldn't believe they were going to dump her at a shelter though.

Thanks everyone! I can't get over how cute she is, I've just been staring at her all evening.
I can guarantee I'll be taking (and posting) tons of pictures of her as she grows!
No ideas for names yet either, so suggestions would be great!

Aaaaaack! She's adorable!!
I think she looks like a Penelope, Penny for short. Or maybe a Callie. Or maybe a Gracie. I could go on and on!

Make sure you socialize her with other dogs as soon as she's far enough along with her shots. I once got a puppy that was barely six weeks old, and she ended up having terrible social skills (with other dogs) becuase I didn't know any better back then, and didn't socialize her enough. You could take her to puppy classes or something like that. The more she is exposed to, the better.

I'm sure that you already know this, but don't let her run around on the ground outside (your yard is ok if you KNOW what's been in it) before her shots are done. She could catch all sorts of things including Parvo. And if you have other dogs that go to the park or anything, make sure that you wipe their feet before they come into your house where they will have contact with the puppy.

Congratulations on the new member of your family!!!

I thought of Snoopy last night but John vetoed it pretty quickly, lol. So far the names I really like are Willow, Savannah, Daisy, Dixie, Delilah and Ella. John doesn't really like any of those names and wants to name her Juno, after that movie

Dachshunds are my favorite kinds of dogs. This is an adorable mix!

I thought of "Pepper". I don't know why.
