Does anyone own a Shark steam mop? Does it work as claimed? I'm really tempted to try one, but I don't want to waste my money if it's really just a piece of junk.

It seems to have gotten mixed reviews: http://www.infomercialratings.com/pr...am_mop_reviews

I've had a Kärcher steam cleaner (canister type) for about 8 1/2 years, and I love it. We have hard floors throughout the house, and the steam cleaner does a great job on the tiles, parquet and laminate. I use microfiber cloths on floors, and just throw them in the washer afterwards. I also use the cleaner on windows, the oven, fridge, bathroom, etc., and am really satisfied with it. The Kärcher brand is really expensive, but I got mine on sale, and when it comes time to replace it, my nephew can use his employee discount, as he's now in a work-study program with the company.

I would suggest using distilled water if your water is hard.

I wonder if you'd be better off with the Shark Steam Blaster? http://www.amazon.com/Shark-Ultra-St...7508241&sr=8-2
as it could be used on things other than floors, too.

Thanks for the info. I just did a google search for the Kärcher steam cleaner, but couldn't find one that gave a price. I'm sure that means it's outside my price range

I might give that Steam Blaster a try, it would be good to have something to use in the bathroom as well. I see it has mixed reviews tool. I guess I'll have to do a little more research before I jump in. I wonder if I can find it in any of the stores around here, so I can take a look at it.

Well, I bought the Lysol Steam Mop, which is basically a cheaper version of the Shark. I like mine well enough, it works pretty well on my linoleum floors, and definitely pulls up dirt and sticky messes.

I've always seen pretty good reviews for the Shark - I would have gotten it but I just don't have that much mopable area at my place to justify the price. Mine was only 20 dollars ($30 with a 10 dollar discount)
