Hi There!

Thread Starter

I'm in bad form as I've posted in other threads before introducing myself here!

I am a long time "crazy cat lady" and am a retired pet groomer. I have always had cats and am now blessed with 8 who are our full-time kids.

At one point I took in senior cats who had been dumped in shelters but have put that on hold as it is very emotional and my husband was getting very burned out. Most of the cats we took in were between 14-16 and not in good health. We just wanted to give them a nice place to finish out there lives that was not at the end of a needle in a county shelter. Most we had for between 4-6 months before we had to euthanize due to their health problems. Why would they be dumped in shelters? Because their longtime owners didnt have the decency to make the right decision on their own. But thats a discussion that could go on forever and makes my tummy hurt.

Presently I am fostering for the local no-kill shelter and it is all new! Oh yea, I know cats but having babies in the house is a whole new game! I posted about a little abandoned bottle fed that I had last week. Thankfully that ended with little Blue going to a surrogate Mom and gaining two brothers and two sisters. She is doing really well and I visit that litter often.

Friday I picked up "Baby Girl" who is looking like she is ready to pop any minute although is not showing any of the behaviors of a soon to be Mommy. She was brought into the shelter by an older gentleman who says that she had been a older womans kitty. The lady was put into a nursing home and the cat was left outside and alone. Apparently the neighbors had been feeding her for a couple of months when the gentleman decided that she really needed a home again. She was already a little tummy bulgey then and that was about three weeks to a month ago.

She seems content at this point and has a really good appetite so we are spending lots of cuddle time with her and giving her plenty of nesting options.

Whoops!! This was supposed to introduce ME!!

I've gained SO MUCH great information from these boards in the past week! Thanks to everyone for making this such a great place!!

I hope to hang around and maybe, someday, be able to help out too!
