I am curious to find out, genetically, how a DSH calico could have odd-eyes. We had one in rescue, who just found a home. She had one green eye and one blue eye. I have seen all-white cats like this, but not a cali.

Anyone know or can steer me in the right direction?

Here she is BTW. Her shelter name was Carmel.

She could be like my odd-eye bicolor mix. We suspect she had one parent as a siamese type (deep blue eye color) and one parent as a black/white with gold/green eye color.

In your case I'd say siamese on one side (maybe seal point) and a red tabby/white father on the the other.

Thanks, GoldenKitty.

I don't know the parentage. I know she came in with her brother - a buff tabby and white with green eyes!

The only thing that can be said is that it is the white spotting that's causing the odd eyes (in a few cases actural physical damage can change the color of an eye). How eye colors are inherited isn't clear. I think I have to articles that might help you some.

The Pigment Parade and Eye Colors in Cats.

She is a very pretty cat. In Sphynx there are a lot of odd eyed cats.

We currently have one in the shelter. It is not as uncommon as you may think
