Since Spring time is just around the corner I thought I better get a jump on flea control. I've used Program, Frontline and Advantage in the past...all with great success. I'm just wondering which one is the best and what kind do you guys use. My cats recently had worms and our Vet told us to start some flea medication soon before they return. I've read that Program doesn't kill adult fleas, but they sterilize them so they can't reproduce...but when do these little buggers die? My cats tend to scratch like the dickens when they've got fleas, so I'm betting they are somewhat allergic to them. I would hate for the "sterilized fleas" to keep biting them...they seem so miserable when they've got them bad.
Just wondering which kind to get and what kind everyone uses.
OH...I prefer to use the liquid form than a pill form. It's so hard for me to pill these cats...even with a pill gun!
Thanks!

Alot of people use the program and Advantage together and it works well. Although I like Advantage better, if you want adult and egg protection, Frontline Plus kills adults and has an egg inhibitor as well, you might want to look into that one.

Whats the difference between Frontline and Frontline Plus? I've noticed it's about 10 bucks cheaper on online stores. Is there much difference or should I fork out the extra cash for the Plus kind?

Since I have so many cats, I buy the Advantage for large dogs and break it down and dose my crew. It saves a ton of money!

The diffrence between the frontline and the frontline Plus is that the Plus has the egg inhibitor in it, and the regualar doesn't.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
I didn't realize you could use the dog version of Advantage on cats...that is a huge money saving plan! It does sound like it takes a bit of work, but for that kind of savings it's worth it. I have 3 cats and 1 dog & it does get a bit costly for flea control. I can't imagine having 25 cats like MaryAnne...I'd be in the poor house for sure! LOL!
Thank you all once again!

I have a feral cat in my house since last October. She does not go outside...neither do any of my other 3 cats but somehow I got fleas. I used the back of the neck brand for my normal cats but had to use Program on my feral (put in food) because I can not touch her.

Has anyone that uses Program had any trouble with their cats eating the food that the Program is mixed into?

Thanks for your help.
