Here's Monday's QOD from Rigel!

- Are you a person maniacal of the clean and the Organization at home? Or you´re a mess…
….
…Do you have a stricktly control over all in your home? Or your office or your desk?
…

I am a mess, everywhere

I am normally a mess, but then I get into a mode where I will try to clean and organize everything.

I am neither strictly organized/controlling or a mess of my house. I'm somewhere in between. I used to be highly organized when I lived in my condo but I had more storage.

I am highly organized/controlled at work. It's the only way I can function there.

Under the cats, mostly.
I'm not really either. Things are where they belong, but I'm not a clean-freak!
it's hard to be clean all the time when you've got two cats who get into everything and wreck the place before you get home from work again!

True, dat.

I've lived in this apartment for almost 32 years. It's a studio in NYC. Not as small as some studios, but after all those years, one accumulates alot of "stuff". But I always tried to keep a clean place, maybe "super-cleaning" when someone came over. But there was certainly alot of stuff.

That was taken care of for me last April when I came home from work to find my apartment destroyed by fire. It was shocking, to say the least.

With the help of some great friends, we spent two weeks throwing things that weren't destroyed. I think I was in shock, because now I'm thinking, "Where is the blah-blah-blah? Oh. I threw it out." I didn't want to keep anything that had that horrible smoke smell.

People donated basic things, like a sofa bed, a rug, I bought a new bed with donations from people in my building (
) and by the beginning of July I was all moved back in to my old apartment, but totally renovated, fresh, & newly painted ......new kitchen (where the fire had started - it wasn't my fault....an old can of Easy-Off under the sink had corroded and the fumes had been ignited by the pilot light of the old stove).

Since then, (trying to shorten this story...
), I've been really good about not accumulating extra clutter, and it's making me even more aware of trying to keep everything neat and tidy. I sort of had turned into a neat-freak.......until I got the kitties.
I just don't feel like wearing myself out by vacuuming everyday......and besides....they've relaxed me.

Sorry this was so long.

If by organized you mean, do I know where things are, then the answer is mostly yes. If you mean tidy, then the answer is most certainly NO! We are messymessymessy, not helped at all by the fact that there are several categories of mess that we really need to deal with, and the longer we don't the more they intermingle....

Knee deep in cat litter
I am in-between. I am very organized in certain areas like the kitchen (even the drawers are labeled) and the bathrooms but in my small craft room/office it is not organized. I try to re-organize and re-organize but it keeps being the "dump zone"

At home, I'm a mess. Everything has a definite place, but it takes a while before they get there. My desk at home is the same way...a mess. My desk here at the office is completely organized and neat. Thats the "public view" of me.

I like to describe myself as a "casual housekeeper"....sometimes messy, but certainly not dirty.
At work I'm a control freak. I'm the "Sterile Technique Police!" When you scrub and set up instruments for surgery, you have to be neat and tidy, with everything in it's place, so you can grab it the second you need it, without having to think about it or look for it. Perhaps that's why I'm "casual" at home!

I took a test when I was about 30, and they said I was "mentally organized but spatially disorganized." What they meant was that if I put something down, I can come back to it a year later and find it, but the odds are good I won't put it down in the space that it "belongs."
