What a beautiful kitty!! I think I'm in love!

When you first mentioned the ocean theme, my first thought was Marina, or Calypso. Tiki is cute too.

I LOVE Emma too but I'm starting to think that if I ever have a little girl I might want to name her that. I don't want to name my animals anything I might name my children b/c then I wouldn't want to name them that.

So I started calling her Maggie last night to see how it fit and all three times she came running from across the house. Of course I could have probably been calling her anything and she'd come running, but still. I'm going to give it a couple of weeks before I finally decide. I like to let them name themselves if possible.

Kitten_Smitten - I love all of your kitties names. While I prefer more traditional names for my animals, I always have several nicknames like the ones you use. I call my cat Aussie "Mooney", "Tubby", "Buby" etc. most of the time. I only ever use her real name when I'm trying to get her attention.

She's a red Aby - right? The logically her name should be Lucy (after Lucile Ball)

Nope, actually she's a ruddy. She's just got a lot of red coloring in her from her ruddy father. Apparently he's a celebrity because he had so much color to him. Even Abymummy had heard of him.

Have you picked out a name yet? She looks like a Lily or a Lucy to me, but Maggie would suit too.

Still no name! It's driving me nuts. I'm calling her anything that comes to mind but nothing stands out. I can't figure out why this one is so difficult! I'll let everyone know as soon as I pick one. Of course with all of this suspense in naming her I'm going to be afraid to post it in case everyone hates it!

Her tickings coming in...another few months and she may just be a show cat!

Anyhow, here's my suggestion for a name:

Cantik (Chan - tek) - means pretty
Cinta (Chin-taa) - means love

Pantai ( Phan-tie) - means beach

Obviously, all words are in Malay. All my Abys have Malay names as their CFA reg names

What about Scout, after the plucky young narrator in To Kill a Mockingbird?

I tend to pick names for my pets by thinking of a character in a movie, tv show or book that shows some of the same characteristics or that I really like.

Nikita is named after the woman in the Luc Besson movie of the same name

Matilda could also work after the Natalie Portman character in the Luc Besson movie Léon. Lizzie from Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice or.. (and the list goes on)

Yep, I've been searching through my favorite movies/books but haven't come across anything great so far. I just booked a trip back to Key West for the first week in June and I'm sure I'll find a name there, but I really don't want to wait that long for her sake. Of course, I never really call my cats by there name much, mostly when I'm talking about them to other people. Otherwise I just call them whatever nickname pops in my head at the time.

I forgot to post my favorite pic of her so far. It's not all that clear b/c it was taken from my phone, but it was all I had on hand at the time.

Awww what a beautiful little girl you have there. Have fun deciding on the name that she chooses to come running to - my vote would go with Lily - but then I'm biased as that's our little Singapura's name
