A couple of years ago, we looked into one for my m-i-l. We received a very nice (read expensive) brochure in the mail.
I think there were several sizes - from 1200 to 1800 each.

We didn't buy it for her.

I sent off for the brochure as well. I'm guessing the prices have come down, since they are now priced at $349 & $429. Those are sale prices for a limited time, but the regular price is not all that much more.

I compost via bins which I don't turn very often but they are quite large and still provide me with 16-20 wheelbarrows of compost/year.

While I don't think they work in 14 days they do work fast depending on how many times they are turned and the correct mix of "green to brown" material. I've had people state 4-6 weeks is about right.

Gail.....so you know people that have the compost tumbler? The exact one?! Originally, I was going to put an open compost bin in the back corner, but I have a bit of a problem with the occasional raccoon in the yard. I know an open bin would just encourage them more.

I am going to a gardening conference this Saturday I can ask around???

Just a week ago I had a possum in one of mine-I thought everything was still pretty much frozen. I'm sure I've had critters in the past due to the kitchen scraps but they would be in there at night so that is ok by me. If you use a open bin just make sure if there is no rain that you can get a hose to it to water it-thats a problem with the placement of mine.
It would be a pain to relocate as the three bins are 6 x 6 x 4!
