Disney's changing "It's a Small World" ride. I think it's about time, those stereotypical kids and smaltzy music were old a long time ago.

My husband and I were on the ride at WDW many years ago, when there was a mechanical glitch. We were trapped there for 20 minutes listening to the song, before I got brave enough to walk out (I was just a few weeks post-op & worried about my balance walking out).

To this day, we can't stand that song. But it does bring back memories of an otherwise fun trip.

Granted I haven't been on the ride in YEARS, however as a kid I never say it as stereotypical. I saw the ride as something high level: There are other people in this world with other cultures just like me.

I'm going with whomever the article referred to saying that its just Disney looking for more money.

really enjoyed reading the 'alternate' lyrics, too!

The addition of the Disney characters is obvious commercialism. The point of the ride is to show kids, just regular normal kids, from other places. If they want to pretty it up and modernize it, fine, but leave the Disney characters out of it. The song itself wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to listen to it the WHOLE time you were in line. It gets old way too fast, so I should be left for just during the ride.

That's sad!
It's worse enough they added Jack Sparrow and Davey Jones to the Pirates Ride!

I don't see what the big deal is. I've never been to Disney Land or Disney World, but I would think that I would expect to see Disney characters around given the fact that the whole theme parks are based on Walt Disney and Walt Disney is based around their characters.

I just don't see what all the hoopla is about!

I personally think it is a big mistake on their part. I was only at DisneyWorld in FL, but I went when I was 14 (25 years ago....do the math). I was a teenager, but enough of a kid still to be enchanted. That is one ride I remember vividly, because I could "see" other cultures and appreciate other countries. Why throw in imaginary characters?? To me, that defeats the purpose of what that attraction is actually trying to say.

That is hands down the worse ride in the park. It's soo annoying!! I think we ran from it when we got off. They needed to get rid of that one a long time ago. haha

They're ruining Walt's creation by adding to it.
He drempt of all this, it be like you drawing a masterpice and then someone comes along and draws all over it...it does'nt matter if you hate the ride or not...
