Manila, Philippines is officially part of the "Globe Hour". I will voluntarily shut off my electricity for 1 hour.
For details:
Earth Hour
Would you be willing to do the same or similar thing to help our planet?

I am willing, but I won't remember.

Yeah absolutely - we're doing it.

And yay for Sydney, by the way, for initiating this. What a great idea it is.

Yes, Christchurch is on the list of cities involved and so I am looking forward to it and they will have it online how much power is saved, so I am looking forward to it! My dad works for the power company and so he is not looking forward to the calls the idiots make!

Sounds great for those who can, but count me out. The temperature dropped here from a cold front and I have no desire to harm my pets.

Here it is just the lights - no need to turn off the electricity.

Twenty-six major cities around the world are expected to turn off the lights on major landmarks, plunging millions of people into darkness to raise awareness about global warming, organisers said.

Google did: www.google.com

We will.

We did it, mum and I were babysitting my sisters baby, gave him a nice bath by candle light

I think it's a great idea, and reminds people they should be more conservative everyday not just for an hour.

Lights will go out but BF will be on computer, and I will be watching tv.

If it is any consellation though, I am very green, recycle, and am going to get a bamboo floor for the kitchen, instead of the sheet vinyl I was considering until I found out it was made of petroleum.

Come on everyone... I can think of plenty of fun things to do in an hour with the lights off. Especially, if you bring in some candles.

Hahaha.
