Actually only once in my life. And I'm a fairly loud individual. Which would not be good for work the kids ignore me enough as it is.
Oh yes when i have a cold
I've had Laryngitis a couple of times as well and had to be sent home from work because my throat felt like it was closing up and i could only manage a whisper

I have lost my voice many times, due to laryngitis. I hate it!

Yeah, and its horrible! Makes people wanna avoid you even though nothing else is wrong and you aren't in pain! Cold season stinks!

Once. I was working in a call center and after about 3 weeks of constant jabbering on the phone I done lost my voice. Had to miss a week of work.
I actually had laryngitis when I worked as a receptionist, and when my H called in sick for me, the boss wondered why I wasn't coming to work!
