I got a call a couple of days ago to see if I could foster a pregnant stray/feral. It's snowing and sleeting, so guess what I said?
The people who were feeding her have more than enough on their hands with the ones they already have, so were happy to quickly trap her when I agreed to take her in. She's been to the vet, and she tested negative for everything!

The poor girl is terrified, and has definitely been on the street for over a year (at least because they got her kittens last year), but behaved beautifully at the vet. Yes, she is pregnant, but will not be spay/aborted per her rescuer's wishes. With everything they've done for cats in their neighborhood, and they're paying the bills, it's definitely their call.

I'm really hoping that she's a stray, not feral. It's just so much easier that way.
They brought her over, so she's settling into her room. I already got several blinks from her, so all is good for day one!

Here's Vixen:

What a darlin' kitty!
She's got some relaxing to do, obviously, but those blinks are a good sign.

Just look at that expression on her sweet face.

She is in your loving hands now Kelly.

Aww...thanks. Yeah, her poor little nose. They always get scratches on their noses from traps.

I hear kitten/s already!
I hear newborn kitten yipping!

It's killing me, but I'm giving her privacy. I don't really have any relationship with her yet, so I'm not going to barge in there. It's killing me though!

And mine!
I'm sure the stress of being trapped yesterday, vet today, to my house afterward hastened the process, but good grief! I definitely hear more than one! Nice strong cries!

JinJin and Sabina are sufficiently freaked out!

I cannot believe you have a foster AND kittens at your house. What fun you are going to have for the next several weeks.

Well there is a buff or orange one that would match Bayley. I'm just sayin'.

She was only here a few hours...I just really didn't expect it!

Well there are 4, and I'm 99% sure she is finished. She did a beautiful job!
All four are gorgeous, fat as ticks, and nursing beautifully! I took a picture...it's super low light, so is pretty grainy, but I just wanted to check on them, leave her a big dish of wet food, and then leave them alone. There is a white w/a bit of buff, and all buff or orange, a gray & white, and the cutest little orange-faced tortie!
Hers is the only face I've seen, so I can't tell the markings well, and I kept a good distance. Vixen was really good about me being there, and actually fell asleep while I was talking to her. Well anyway, here they are!

Oh my goodness Kelly, how precious are those little babies. Vixen does not look bothered at all that you are near, so she must be a stray and not feral, dont you think?

Handle those babies as soon as you think she will let you.

What are JinJin and Sabina doing hearing and smelling kittens?

I really do think she is a stray...very skittish, but shows good signs. I have high hopes for her!
If she's a feral, I think she'll be very open to socialization.

Tomorrow my cat expert friend (the one who came over twice a day to pill JinJin when she had an abcess) is coming over and we're going to switch out the linens. They'll get handled then. I love it when the newborns are first handled and they make that little popping sound when they spit...it sounds like a tiny ka-ka-ka sound.

Sabina's very wary and worried. When the babies would cry, she'd run away, or run to me.
JinJin is very relaxed, and seems unconcerned. I think she doesn't care who has babies just so long as it's not her!
