I got my answer. Still not sure what to do, think, or say. I wish I could crawl in a hole right now, this week has gone from bad to worse.

Damita has a neurological issue, he suspects a very slow progressing tumor.

He ran some other tests & ruled a bunch of stuff out....but basically told me I can do an MRI (for $1,000+) to confirm a brain tumor....and then I can consider surgery to remove it.....but he said his guesstimate would be $10,000 final cost.

So, I pretty much give her a quality of life for whatever she has left. Prednisone to help keep down swelling of the tumor (that honestly, may or may not be there). He had an opthamilogist on staff come look at her eyes & she agrees it is a neurological thing.

She also has a tumor/growth on one of her back feet that he advises I watch, but doesn't advise surgery because she may be gone in a month or she may be around for years....he said to wait & see in 6 months how it looks & how she's doing, then decide.

I can't afford the scan, it's plain & simple. Nor would it do any good, really.

Oh Nat, i'm so sorry
here's hoping things improve for the gorgeous girl. I know how hard it must be, i've always asked myself what would happen if i needed to pay a big bill for Charlie that i didn't have. I wish i could give you guys real hugs!!!!! Big BIG healthy vibes for Damita

& for sweet Damita to feel better...
i agree - the scan is pointless unless you were going to try the surgery.

I'm going to look at the bright side....yes she may have further issues down the road, but....she could have many more months or years to live.

I think all of my cats but one would be dead if I did not have them. Who would deal with Damita always sick/vet bills? Ophelia attacking? Squishy biting? PJ & Punky on meds so long then destroying things? Molly's incessantly weeping eye? Not many.....I'm no saint.....I just see them for what they are, a living being who deserves a chance at life.

Aww, I am sorry the news wasn't better, but fingers crossed it is a very very very slow growing tumour, and that that preds help halt it slightly.
