on monday, we had a lilly flower bloom, not knowing the dangers we both went to work. my wife came home at lunch to discover our littlest cat (less than a year old) had gotten into it. she did not eat any of it but more than likely picked it up and took it to "her" spot in the apt. the carpet where she tipped the vase over was still reasonably wet. so we figured if we got to the vet in time it would increase her chances. my wife took her to the vet and we put her on the neccessary medication. yesterday they said that they found her blood work to abnormal. but she was eating, p**ping, etc. and said they would up the fluids more and do another blood test. they called today (after i saw her in the morning, she really wanted to go home) and said that her urine was better but her kidney's had worsened. again they are keeping her another night. i am at a loss as to what to do.

sorry to spring this on everyone. i always mean to post but get info lurking. this time i just don't know. btw i love the site, very nice people we have here.

How I wish that every lily plant or bloom came with a warning for cat owners!!!

You have done the very best thing you could possibly do by taking your kitty to the vet right away. Immediate and aggressive treatment is your best defense against lily toxicosis. It will take some time for her renal function to recover (as much as it can.) It usually doesn't recover all the way, and you will probably be dealing with CRF for the rest of her life. My Cleo was diagnosed with CRF when she was 6 months old, when my vet did pre-op bloodwork for her spay surgery. Cleo will be 8 years old in May. CRF is a progressive, and eventually, fatal disease, but with treatment, you may be able to enjoy more time with your sweet kitty.

Please read the thread about CRF that is at the beginning of this forum. It will give you a great resource for learning about Feline Chronic Renal Failure. If there's anything I can help you with, please don't hesitate to PM me. I will keep your sweet kitty in my prayers.

thanks for your prayers and response. well, i just got a call from my wife and the doc said that we can take her home tomorrow
her blood work came back and there was no change, so no worse. we will have to give her sub q? (not sure what it means, the wife is a vet tech, she knows), and take her for a follow up next week. thank you all for at least reading, and praying. just like me, i read a lot of links but don't always post. so thanks again. YAY
