HOW COULD ANYONE DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO A POOR BABY! At least she's out of that family and hopefully will lead a good life with her foster family who wants to adopt her.

Here's several links-

That guy is not right in the head. I think he had totally lost touch with reality.

Quote:
Testimony during the trial showed that Mauldin has a history of mental illness beginning at age 10, when he told his mother that voices were telling him to kill her and his father.

Mauldin was on antipsychotic and antidepressant drugs for several years before receiving what he said was a call from God to become a minister. His relationship with his wife, Eva, was falling apart, but he remained a devoted father, displacing his wife as the primary caregiver, according to testimony.

...

According to a video recording of his interview with a Galveston police investigator and testimony, Mauldin said he felt a strange sensation and began thinking about how to get enough money to go to a topless bar.

He said he felt a burning sensation in the pit of his stomach and felt as if he were covered in mud that began cracking, setting lose demons. He reported losing control over his actions, becoming an observer, and bounced his daughter on the bed.

He needs life in Jail. They should lock him up and throw away the key. I saw it on the News here today.

Definitely life. And mandatory sterilization! And why would they give him parole?
Imagine being this little girl years later finding out what was done to her and then finding out that the person responsible was a free man? Livin large & free to make more babies?
Also I often wonder about connections between violence and a history of taking various prescription mind altering drugs...was he still on the drugs? Had he suddenly stopped taking them? Why don't we hear about this kind of thing?

I wonder how he did it. Every microwave oven I've ever used automatically shuts off as soon as the door is open so unless he stuffed the whole child in there, how could it happen?

ETA: I re-read one of the articles and apparently he put the child in there. Why do they let people like this continue to live?

I just saw a few minutes ago as I was logging on that he got 25 years. Not nearly long enough IMHO.

I read this story earlier today. Sickens me. 25 years was not enough for this sicko.

A guy in Texas put his infant daughter into a microwave and turned it on. She had sever burns and internal injuries. He only got 25 years in prison. He showed no remorse, not that that mattered, because it was a cold and callous thing to do to a child that stood no chance of defending herself. I don't believe in the death penalty, but I sure hope the other inmates find out what he's in for!

Be happy, actually that is a much longer sentence than most baby killers get.
Sad but true.
He will have a long time to contemplate what he did and his fellow inmates will find out, the guards will probably tell them.

There are also alot of abuse cases where the child is put in an oven. Just a sick, sick world!

Yes, but in a mean-spirited way, I wish that he HAD been found insane - not only would he be putting up with other violently mentally ill inmates, at the end of the term, there would be an insanity hearing, where he could be kept there, over & over....If he did this to his own child, one can only shudder at his other victims who are unknown to this world, including animals
