I went out to feed the three little monster and ashton ran up to me and then layed down right infront of me and showed me his belly... I thought himmmm that is awful friendly and trusting of him. So when he got back up I picked him up and he started purring really lound!! Awwwwww I'm so happy. So i carried him into the barn with me and let him nibble on the food on the way there
I'm so happy!!!!!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
YIPPEEE!!!

Just be a little careful - often they roll on their backs because they want tummy rubs, but beware that on their backs is also a cat's defensive position...just watch out for those back feet!

I learned my lesson with moe and neo. They love belly rubs but they get all crazy and start kicking...so now i wait until kitties stand up again before picking them up

It's such a wonderful feeling to have a feral or a stray trust you enough to let you touch him and then to pick him up! I'm so happy for you!

I'm sure you know him well enough so as not to misinterpret his body language, but for the benefit of others reading this thread, I'd like to second Laurie's words of caution. Sometimes cats show their bellies as a defensive postures. Also, not every cat that actually wants a belly rub will let you pick him out without getting his claws out - especially a feral just coming out of his shell.

 i'm starting to get to know him pretty good. He rolled on his back and kinda wiggled back and forth. So he looked friendly. I try not to pick any cats up when they are on there back (except for neo) because moemoe doesn't really liked to be touched when he is on his back. you can pet his belly for a few seconds but when he is like that he wants to play RUFF. dh has gotten little nips and claws a few times
