Aggghhhhh! I'm having some problems! Ok, so I think I mentioned this. I misplaced Maxx's signed over registration certificate (CFA) so I have to have the previous owner send the reg form to enter the show and list me as the agent. Then I have to go through the process to get the CFA reg. transfered to my name. I feel like the previous owner is giving me the run around. Either that or she's just totally clueless. Now she claims she sent the online form in but the clerk hasn't received it yet. She responds with these short, vague messages. It's driving me nuts! I may go straight to her house after work and have her fill out the paper work right then and take it with me to fax. If she gives me grief, I'm tempted to tell her we can settle it in court and she can pay me for all the dental, vet bills, all the supplies and time for my grooming him, food and what I paid for him. I've been patient with her, trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, but I'm at the end of my rope! I can't help but feel there is some other underlying motive for her. Not to mention she "claims" that she is the one who has shown Maxx before yet she knows nothing about the process, shaves her cats rather then groom them, and knows nothing about breed standards. There is something fishy going on, I think!
I'm upset and getting angry.

By the way.... The show is actually April 19th. The 12th is the last day to register.

So you never sent in the transfer registration to CFA? If you know the cat's number you don't have to have her send in the entry (you as agent). You would just have to get CFA to reissue the paperwork and have her sign it again.

GK is right.

All you have to do is get the breeder/previous owner to send a letter to CFA stating the cat's name, registration # and color, and that the cat has been sold to you but the registration cert has been lost. Give them a credit card # or the transfer fee in a check and the transfer is valid. PM me if you want the contact person in CFA to facilitate the transfer.

I finally got Maxx entered in the show for April 19th!
Now I have the letter in hand and as soon as I can find the previous owner at home, I'm going to go there in person and have him properly transfered to my name so I'll never have this problem again! So the transfer should be all done by the time the show comes around.

Now I'm getting nervous. It's coming up very quickly! But then again, I can't wait to see how he does! He's a gorgeous boy but from what I hear, the bi color category is pretty competitive. I'm guessing he should get something since he had previously championed. I hope.

Maxx had some white hairs on his back in the middle of the black and I got all those plucked out. It's almost like they were gray because they were real wiry and stiff. He seems to young to be graying though.

I don't think age has anything to do with it. Could be more from the change in winter coat to a spring/summer one. I've known lots of bicolors that had that happen - if its only a few hairs, you just pluck them out.

Charlie's show in next weekend - keep your fingers crossed and show vibes that he will grand at this one

There were quite a few but I did get them all plucked out after his bath. It was much easier to isolate them when he was damp.

For Charlie:

Oh man! I have been so busy getting ready for the show next Saturday! I am almost finished with my cage curtains and realized I probably should have paid the extra for a whole cage. The half cage is going to be small! The theme of the show is Feline groovy 70's so the fabric for my curtains look kind of tie dye(ish) and I got some long fringe that looks like the old brown leather fringe that was on everything in the 70's. I'm making Maxx a bib out of the same fabric and got some iron on rinestone letters to put his name on the bib.
Oh shoot..... I just realized I forgot velcro for the bib. Oh well, back to the store!

Since I hurt my leg and messed up my knee, I went to petsmart and got a pet stroller to take Maxx in. It has a storage basket under it that I can put all my grooming supplies etc. So it will make it a lot easier for me to get around.

Maxx is looking great! His coat is so shiney and soft. And I got his face rounded out nicely (at least I think so). I'm nervous and I'm excited! I can't wait to see all the other breeds of cats! And of course, I am hoping Maxx does well!

Cats usually prefer the smaller cages, at least to begin with. They feel safer in a smaller area.

Good luck to you and Maxx Try not to be too nervous or he'll pick up on it.

Maybe you will be lucky and no one will be in the other 1/2 of the cage and if so, you can use it and open it up. Just wait about 2 hrs after the start of the show to be sure.

If things go well and you continue to show, you might consider investing in one of the portable cages you see now. Seems about 3/4 of the people have it (if not more) and there are very few wire cages in the benching area

Yeah I may consider buying one if I end up enjoying the shows. Didn't see much point in it yet though. I'm getting a handicapped bench so maybe i will get lucky and the other side of the cage will be free. But then I'd have a problem because I made my curtains for half the cage.
I guess I could take the left over fabric just in case. I could just drape it around the whole cage.

Take the extra material. I always plan on fabric or towels to fit a full cage just in case. If you have more then one person with you (like DH/SO, etc.) its better to just pay the extra fee as you will have 2 spaces.

At my first cat show (in Feb) I had a half cage, but the person who was supposed to have the other half didn't show up so I was able to "expand." Luckily I had some towels in my bag so I was able to cover the rest of the cage!

Here's the curtains I made. I just kind of draped them over this bookcase. The theme is feline groovy. I had that fabric and thought it looks tie dyed. Then I found the approrpiate fringe and went for it. It was pretty easy. I'm going to get a disposable table cloth for the skirt.

And for those who don't visit the Fur Pictures... here's a face shot of my plucking/trimming skills. I think his face still looks too square but I hate to mess with it too much this close to the show.
