Lots of food for thought there.

This is an excellent article. Sadly no where near as many people who watched Obama's speech will never read it.

I was stationed at Fort Lewis Washington from 1979 to 1981 and they also have a large Asian population including at that time an influx of Vietnamese boat people and I seen first hand what he is talking about in this article. I know you can never say something is true of an entire group but from what I saw it is definitely true of the majority. I worked with a man whose wife was Korean and he felt guilty because she insisted on working so hard and refused to spend money on herself. Her mother lived with them and took care of their son while a group including her carpooled to Seattle to work in a fish processing plant. He said she wouldn't even buy a soda for herself at work. She would then come home and clean and do laundry because her mother was to be honored and not do those things. He also wasn't supposed to be doing those things either because it was in her view her job. At that time on a talk show I saw someone ask this question of a black leader, he said that the Asians had an immigrant work ethic that could be found among all immigrants but Afro-Americans were never voluntary immigrants. At some point the excuses need to stop but only Afro-Americans like Bill Cosby can say, anyone else will simply be discounted as racists.
