I just got e-mail from a friend who is in Florid. Because of a bad situation with her boyfriend she is relocating back to Massachusetts.

This is from e-mail:

Unfortunately, I can't have my cats where I'm going which totally breaks my heart to say the least. Do you know anyone who might want a cat(s)? They're fixed, declawed, up to date on shots and VERY AFFECTIONATE. They love kids and actually don't mind dogs. We have 3 and 2 of them are big!

Please help me find them good homes. I've had them all since kittens. 2 of them are brothers, 8 year old Maine Coons (Tango and Cash). Oreo is 5. Since I don't have any children, these are my babies.

She is a good person and the declawed part shocked me. But I won't go there right now.

Right now she is in Dade City, Florida another friend volunteered to go down and drive her back and will be there on April 2nd.

If anyone is interested or can help PM me and I will give her her cell number. Heck will even give you the address and phone where she is now.

I can send only vibes, but maybe someone can contact the women's shelters and see if they have any suggestions. Sometimes, people with offer to foster pets for victims of abuse, whether spousal or child. Also, she should contact Maine Coon rescue - the MC group on Yahoo! does a lot of cross-posting.

So far no luck finding homes. Today I heard that Oreo (black and white DSH) is having some kind of allergic reaction to flea bites is not looking good and is on medication.

She was checking with shelters and all told her that they were full up and could not take her cats. Even if they were able to take them it would be really hard to place Oreo.

I did think about taking him myself but I have real concerns about how Chester will react to another cat. He has never lived with another animal of any kind and is afraid of most people.

Then there are the physical limitations I have. Not too long ago I seriously considered adopting a cat that belonged to an elderly neighbor that passed away. But had to pass because he had serious health problems and needed to be caught and pilled on a daily basis.

Right now the hope is that she can find homes for the two brothers, Tango and Cash, separate if necessary and bring Oreo with her on a temporary basis. Her only other option is to find a shelter that will take the two and Oreo will be PTS.

Any updates on how your friend is doing at placing her boys??? As Maine Coons, Tango and Cash should find homes rather easily, I hope. Sending prayers and vibes that all is going well for them all.

Oh I've always wanted a Maine Coon, but I'm afraid my roost is full! I do hope that your friend finds them satisfactory homes! Has she checked the no-kill shelters in the state she will be moving to? Or any states in between that she will be passing through? Just another suggestion. Also... has she checked with the breeder of the Coons to see if they would be willing to take them back?

So sorry for not replying. I've been checking this post and yesterday I could not find it.

At the moment I have no updates. Almost afraid to call and ask. I just called her cell and got voice mail.

Well, then, I'm continuing to send those prayers and vibes
Thank you for calling!! I feel better knowing that you are there trying to help. Have you tried calling their vet's office - sometimes my vet can coordinate placings between pets & people who have just lost theirs.

Please keep updating this thread. I just emailed my cousin who is 4 hours away from Dade City. I don't think he personally can take more in but he will ask around. (He already had 4 and living with his ex still).

I just talked to my friend and she is on her way home (in Georgia at moment) and has found a home for all three cats.

The best part is they are all going to the same home.
And that home is only two hours from where she will be living.

It's a long strange story but the wonderful lady who will be taking these guys was found thru word of mouth by the friend who sent out the original e-mail that I received.

Thank you all for your concern and support!
