I have taken my cat to two different vets in the past two weeks and first he was treated for a unrinary tract infection and now the other vet says he doesn't know what is wrong with him. I brought him in a few nights this past week and he didn't urinate in his cage, so I figured that maybe the medicine finally got through his body. I took him to a groomer today and when I picked him up they said that he has a lot of blood in his urine. I really don't know what to do. If anyone has ANY information on this subject I would appreciate some advice. If it is kidney problems, I would also like to know the procedure or if there is medicine for it and a ball park estimate of how much it might cost. Please help.

I don't have any advice other than to go to another vet and get a second opinion, perhaps a vet that specializes in cat health. We get second opinions on our own health and there is no harm in diong that for your beloved pet.

I will move this to the Health & Nutrition forum where our experts can give you some advice. Sorry to hear kitty is having problems.

Blood in the urine is an indication of a very severe infection and he needs to be seen quickly. I would search for another vet in your area, one who is familiar with FLUTD.

If he is straining to urinate, leaving small puddles of urine and is peeing sometimes out of the box- these are classic signs of FLUTD and untreated, it can eventually cause your cat to die.

I cannot express enough how imperative it is for you to get this cat in to be seen. Most vets are really good about taking payments.
