Hey everyone,

When I adopted Cello he was overweight, not terribly overweight, but needed to lose some excess fat. I have him on wellness wet and core which not only helped him shed pounds, but made his coat look fantastic. I weighed him every other day on a postage scale when I got him. (17 lbs - 15lbs) however recently his weight has gone back to 17!!! although he doesn't have the fat?!?! He still looks really good (only think I couldn't get him to lose was the flab pocket on his belly....kismet has it too). Since I got him I think his activity has gone way up. I walk him on his harness everyday, and I have multiple interactive toys that I play with him with everyday. I weighed Kismet and she is at 11 lbs as well!! (same thing....9 when I got her, down to 5 when she was sick) but I think she looks great too!

I guess my question is.......like people once cats are active for a long period of time after inactivity(obviously no activity at the shelter and their old owner was very very ill) can they gain muscle weight?!

Cats can definitely gain muscle weight. Two pounds seems like a lot...but I would go more on how his body feels than anything else.

thats what I thought, and he weighed in at 15 at his lowest after he got very very sick and was in ICU for a couple days, so I don't think it's that extreme......but still!!
