There's a PBS program on brain chemistry and one of the things the Dr. spoke about was cats! (He has one.) A dog's brain is apparently 7% prefrontal cortex and a cat has virtually no prefrontal cortex. The prefrontal cortex has to do with impulse control, learning from mistakes, and many other things. (I think he said the pfc is 30% of the human brain.)

I thought this would be a good thing to post for those posters who periodically show up here who take their cats behavior very personally and expect them to be other than a cat!!!!!

That sounds very interesting and not too surprising.

Do you remember what the title of the show was?

"Change your Brain/Change your Life" - Dr. Daniel Amen (I'm not sure about the spelling of his last name." It's mostly about human brains but he did talk about cats for a bit

Haha, that's funny... my ex is getting his degree (then PhD) in neuroscience and his textbooks are always citing cat experiments (you know, most from long times ago when they still did that kind of thing a lot) and he'd always joke about using Ollie... but he'd also sometimes say things like "Oh you know how your monster cat always *insert weird behavior here* well this chapter says it's cuz...." it was kinda interesting!
