My cat has another urinary tract disease and was given Clavamox and Science Diet CD food. He will be on the medicine for a month and then we will see from there.
At this point they are not sure what's causing it.

I was feeding him Nutro Max and Wellness Dry food. He was also having Wellness canned, Merrick Canned, and an occasional Sheba chicken. I have also lately using Wellness pouches which he seems to love.

I am concerned with the Science Diet. Both canned and dry have poultry by-products and there is pork fat in the dry too! I feel that the Wellness and Nutro Max were better grade foods, but after 2 days of hardly urinating, he finally went more than a drop and there was no blood in it.
Should I keep feeding the CD dry? He will not eat the canned at all, so I am going to continue on with the wet food I was giving him. I am just concerned with the ingredients in the dry...but I suppose it won't hurt to give it to him for a short while...?

I also purchased a fountain for him, but he won't use it! Uggh...

Any advice from those who have been through this will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

My vet just pulled my 4 cats off Wellness. She said there have been alot of Urinary Tract Infections in cats who have been on it. That vet was the one who actually told me to put them on it 3 years ago. They are now on Solid Gold hard and Innova soft.

SG is actually about the same in % as wellness....

MAX cat is formulated for UTI health but some do need an RX ... I prefer Royal canin RX s for ingrediants

Did you vet pull them off both the Wellness dry and the canned, or just the dry food?
That's very interesting as this is the second bad infection he has had recently...

I'm guessing you need a prescription for the Royal Canin RX? I have never seen the Solid Gold in any of the places I shop. Where have you been buying it? I will look both of them up on the internet to see an ingredients list and hopefully some reviews.

I am also feeding a very allergic cat. Are either the Solid Gold or The RC RX also good for that?

Thank you!
