Oh I am gonna sound real mean here..But he should dump that girl and find a more caring one. I foresee a bad marriage if she reacts this way over a lost ring that he had little control over.

Plus I would be to scared to wear a 12,000$ ring.

Although, who puts a $12,000 ring inside a helium filled balloon, and doesn't tie it to their wrist, and propose indoors, with all doors and windows closed? Why not put it in a normal balloon, one that won't constantly be trying to escape? Sounds like he didn't quite think things through, although I know proposing can mess with people's common sense.
The gf does sound a bit bovine if she won't even talk to him.

His girlfriend is a total cow. Why would she be upset that the balloon floated away? Geez, she's still engaged, someone just has to actually find the ring and bring it back to her.

If my husband came up with something that creative I'd be smitten.

Seems romantic, but I agree he should have taken pre-cautions. Sounds like the girlfriend is a spoiled little princess...to say the least!

I think my jaw hit my desk when I saw her response! What a brat! Of course, I think it was also a little foolish to spend so much on a ring and use an escaping balloon. Cute idea on paper... very bad in practice! Still, I think it's clear that girl isn't really interested in marrying poor Hajji (or not so poor to spend on a ring what I could use to buy a car!) and is probably really into gloating to her friends and "being taken care of". Poor guy.
