So we have a patio on the side of our house and we let our two cats go out there... not all the time, but occasionally, and let them look around look at the birds etc...

one of our cats (the male, who is neutered) has no started to meow at the door and wanting to go out all the time... (again no big deal sometimes we let him out sometimes we don't) but when he does go outside he goes pee... I'm like what the heck.................... GO IN YOUR LITTER BOX....

And yes we keep the litter box EMACULATE its always cleaned....

Any ideas?

you can't stop his instinct. Cats are outside cats or were until the first human brought them inside. Originally desert dwellers, they are accustomed to going on sand, then on dirt as they moved into the towns and cities. Your cat should have two litter pans not just one inside the house too.

I live in a flat of a house..
I floor...

Where am I to put the other litter box..?? in my living room...? lol the square footage of my place isn't that big....

Trust me one litter box is plenty...

And as i said I clean the litter box on a regular basis... 2 to 3 times a day..

And so its instinct for my cat to go pee outside? lol..????

I really tried to make Butzie an indoor cat but it was obvious when we brought her home from the shelter that she is an indoor/outdoor cat. She wants to go out in the am, so I give her food and then open the cat door. While I am giving her food, she uses her litter box. This is before she goes out. Go figure.

Could there be another cat peeing out there, and your cat is reclaiming the territory?

plenty for you, but maybe not the cats? traditional wisdom is 1 more litterbox than cat. now, that's not always necessary - i had 2 cats that successfully shared a box, but they were littermates. i currently have 4 boxes & 5 cats - i have no more room for boxes, or i'd add another.
any closet floors available? that's where my boxes are.

Yes I can understand how 'more litter boxes' is better idea...

I guess what I was getting at is. He (Malcolm) only wants to go out to pee, he can go number 2 fine in the litter box.

I guess what I am saying is, him going number one outside indicates to me something more, and I'm wondering what that is, if he were going to the bathroom outside COMPLETELY then i would have to agree that more litter boxes are necessary..

some cats prefer one box for pee & another for poop. aren't they silly creatures - & don't we love them?

He's marking his territory outside in case another cat shows up. That's as good as his logic will get - it's not any more complicated than that so give your brain a rest :0).

Mr. Mischief goes outside to "eliminate" and this is fine with me less to clean out of the box. I have four kitties, only two are allowed to go outside. My neutered male prefers to go outside my spayed female will come indoors to use the cat box - I never can understand why she won't go out side while she is out there.

The cat urinating out of doors,I am unsure why this is a problem.

Perhaps I am missing a concept here.
