Sock's litterbox is in a closet in my bedroom. The closet is a nasty shade of olive green and I want to paint it another colour. I just don't want the fumes to hurt her at all. Is this dangerous? I would never want to put my kitty in harm's way. Can I move the litterbox out into the hall for a couple days, or will this just confuse her?
She has another litterbox but she rarely ever uses it. Thanks very much for your input.

I would just put the litterbox right outside the closet until it dries, and then let it air out for an hour or two before you put it back into the closet. Make sure you open the window in the room to air it out really good.

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm going to wait until it gets warmer outside, before I do it (so I can open the window...brrr).

It will probably need two coats...maybe a primer. I want to go from olive green to periwinkle. Socks is usually okay with adjustments but I've never moved her litter box before so I was just wondering. That's what I love so much about this site. I can ask my little questions with no fear of anyone saying "That's a stupid question!".

Thanks for your reply.

Just move the litterbox within sight of the old place, otherwise kitty may become confused and you may have to clean more than wet paint off your floor.

Its a good idea to wait till spring. It will take more than a couple of hours to air it out. More like a couple of days.

I know that there is paint out there that the fumes are safe for even pregnant women to be around, maybe you can look for something like that, and of course move the litterbox
.
