What a colorful and beautiful litter! Congratulations. I'm glad the birth went well. Apparently, Rags knew just what to do.

She's still squirming a bit, like she might still be in labor and her belly still feels a bit tight (but that could be milk). I was able to get the dirty towels out of there and replace them with clean ones. That makes me feel better and probably her too!

My mom is probably going to take one. I called her about them and described them to her. She's not sure if whe wants a calico or one of the gray and white ones!
My Houdini was also wiped out after the multiple births and when I told my kids to leave her alone so she could rest, my 9 year old said "Mom, why would she be tired? She's just been lying there the whole time..."

LOL! It's amazing how tired you can be from just lying down... and having contractions and squeezing out several babies.

Rags is resting now, so I think she is done. I called the vet and was told that cats can take a long rest and start again, so if she has more babies in there she might pop them out later today. Even though her belly is still kind of big, I think that she is done. I have been feeding her a lot over the last month. Maybe she's just plump.

Thanks! I just had to have names right away. When I adopt them out, their new families will probably rename them, but I just like to call them something beside "the big orange one." I'm impulsive that way

I'm going to have such a hard time giving them up! It's good to know my mom wants one and I will keep AT LEAST one of the calicos (maybe both) I LOVE
calicos.
The names were pretty easy to come up with. I named one of the calicos after my first cat, Cindy. I just changed the spelling of it. I named Cuddles that because when I was trying to think of a name I saw him cuddling his mama's cheek. I came up with Punky because he's a fiesty little guy (that mama almost forgot! He's the one that she was too tired to break the cord without my help.) Max is because he's so huge. Lovey because my mom had a gray and white cat when she was a kid and it was called Lovey. Belle just popped into my mind when I saw her.

I love keeping up with everyone's babies, too!
I'm sure Rags is done now. She hasn't had anymore babies or signs of labor for hours. I went out tonight for awhile. My dad took the whole family out to celebrate my new job!
He's happy because he's been helping to support me while I was job searching.
Anyway, when I came home, I surprised Rags. She hissed at first, then she saw it was me and came out of the nest to greet me. She's so funny. She comes out, but when the babies start to cry she rushes back in. I brought her some canned kitten food and her appetite is definitely back. She wolfed it down, growling the whole time. It was as if she was upset that she had to be away from the babies for a few minutes to eat! She rushed back in to check on them a couple of times and then rushed back out to eat and growl. She finally went in for good and left a little bit of food in the bowl. I scooped it into a spoon and reached in to give her the food. She grabbed it up out of the spoon and swallowed it, growling the whole time. She is so protective of those babies!

Congratulations!!! I'm on my laptop, and photobucket is blocked from here, so I cant see the pictures, but I cant wait to get home and check them out!!!! They sound like an adorable, colorful bunch!!!!

Twix didnt have her babes last night, but I was up several times listening to her dig. She ate a whole can of food at 4 o'clock this morning, but [ha!] I know that doesnt mean anything.

I hope she at least holds out til I get home tonight. I think she's getting so big. She actually rolls now when she's laying down. Almost reminds me of a weeble wobble. In fact I think that will end up being the temp names of two kittens. LOL

Anyway! Congrats again!!!

Rags had no appetite for a few hours before and during delivery, but she was ravenous the next day! Now she is eating one whole 3.5 oz can of kitten food at a sitting. I used to give her 1/2 can, twice per day. With free feedings of dry kitten food, of course! Plus a few Pounce treats a day.
That's funny that Sophie was actually hungry while she was giving birth!
