Hi there. I am a presently Massachusetts girl but actually grew up in Vt. I am a DVM/Ph.D at Tufts University Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. I am in my 2nd year here but did the undergrad program that allowed me to enter the vet school after 2 years - it is a combination program as well. My aim is to eventually have my own or share a clinic for cats only but I love all animals. I do have a very special place for kitties though.
I have one cat of my own - a one year old blue Siamese named Susie. She was a kitten someone brought in to the clinic where I work part time and even though I am student and was unsure about having time for a pet, I adopted her and so far, all is well. I cannot imagine my life without her.
I am unattached - no guy in my life and Susie gets to judge all my dates before I go out with them so she is the ultimate decision maker. So, guys who dislike cats need not apply. Not that I have time to look to be honest. I am too busy studying, working, spending quality time with Susie.
I grew up in the Burlington, VT area so am a true blue Yankee. (though I am told our ancestors probably came to Ellis Island from Europe and somehow or other made their way to Vermont.). I am close to my mom who is a great mentor - she teaches nursing at the Univ of Vt. and met my dad at Children's Hospital in Boston. (He was doing an internship[ in pediatrics.) He also teaches at U of V but his main love is to teach pediatrics. My older sister is also a doctor but my younger brother is a techie who now lives in North Carolina so we are the odd persons out in our family - I love animals and hope to remain in this area and accomplish my goals. There are so many clinics here though that it is hard to see.
I can't wait to graduate so I can afford to have more cats and start living like a real person - it seems like I have been in school forever and I am anxious to be done with it- though I know once done, I will have to keep learning new developments. Oh, I also love to write fiction, especially about kitties.
I look forward to meeting you all.
