I've had this problem in the past and when I tried the down conforter yesterday Juno still will not go on it. Juno is my feral baby but sleeps with me at night. As long as I stay in bed so will she. Last fall when I first put on the down comforter she would not come on the bed. It has 12in. sq. blocks and of course is puffy. I then decided I would rather have her in bed bonding since thats about the only place she'll come near me (except in the bathroom) than the comforter so I changed to one that was not down and puffy. Yesterday I thought I'd try again. Once again she would not come on the bed. She spent the night on the seat of an exercise bike in the bedroom. Does anyone else have this problem with certain materials, or furniture. What a crazy cat, but I love her.

Yes, my cat doesn't like the down comforter either and that's with a duvet cover over it. I'm thinking that maybe it just gets too warm for them. Although I thought they always loved warmth! I don't have it on my bed anymore because even I would burn up underneath it. It just doesn't get cold enough in Texas for one, although I LOVE the puffy feel of it.

I know most of my cats did not like stepping or lying on surfaces that are too "fluffy" like pillows or puffy pet beds, so that could be it. I think they feel like the surface in unstable and don't like the way their feet sink in when they step on it.

Many cats don't like down comforters. A lot of them will pee on them. I think it has something to do with birds being natural prey for cats.

My mom's cat has an aversion to a particular blanket. The blanket is plush, and I think in that case it's just that he doesn't like the way it feels when he walks on it.

One of the cats at my dad's house actually sprayed my feather-filled comforter before she was spayed (she was in heat).

Punkin won't sleep on the water bed, usually. Dottie thinks he doesn't like the unstable feeling.

I think you've hit on something. This really makes sense. I did remove the comforter and put on a smooth quilt. Juno is back sleeping with me. I was glad to read all the replies and to know its not just my cat who doesn't like down or puffy things. Thanks for all your replies.
